Re my last text. Will I get any tests taken or will it just be a chat? I feel kinda on my own here.

Hi

have you already had blood work that pointed to possible PBC? Are you seeing a hepatologist ( liver specialist) ? If you had blood work done that showed elevations, the dr will discuss those with you- and probably order more blood work.

And if you haven't had any imaging- ultrasound perhaps to start with- they will most likely order that. When the dr has Lab results to review and some imaging results- there will be more to discuss.

Hope this helps a bit.. Maybe if you give us a bit more background we can help even more.

Thanks for replying. I was diagnosed with pbc about 8 weeks ago. Been on 750 urso since then. I've had no contact with my doctor and just unsure what is ahead

Hi Eileen. I went to the doctors with itchy arms. Had a scan and 4 blood tests. Now been diagnosed with pbc. Been on urso since diagnosis. Left the docs that day with no information...to be fair I never asked anything. I was just glad to get some kind of diagnosis. First hospital appointment next week

Are you going to be seeing a liver specialist? (hepatologist) If so they will most likely review the blood labs with you, go over questions you might have etc. Did you get copies of your lab results? I see you are in Scotland so I don't know how easy that is for you. Here in the USA we have computerized patient portals where we can access our lab work, email doctors etc.. It's a good idea to get and keep copies of your lab results.

They will possibly re-run labs now or arrange to run more labs in the near future. Wrapping your head around the diagnosis is a process. We've all been there- we can help you through it. Lean on us-- we care

Where are you based? It's likely you are having a monitoring appointment so guess it will be bloods and maybe a scan. At my last review I had bloods, fibroscan and they referred me for bone density and eye checks.

My next review will be 9 months to assess if URSO is working and I will also have another fibroscan.

I have found the consultants very reassuring with Royal Free hospital.

Hi, I was only diagnosed a few months ago with PBC and AIH. I have a few symptoms the doctors haven't diagnosed as related to either of those conditions. I was wondering what kind of eye check they have you do and what is the purpose? I have had pain/tenderness around my eye socket and none of the doctors address that symptom. I appreciate any information yoy could give.

Not what you're looking for?
