Just got my latest results and ALT reading has risen for no apparent reason ALP and Bilirubin within range. Would love to know why the readings vary when life stays pretty much the same

Blood results
Hello,
Same thing happened to me. My Alt went from 24 to 76 in 3 months. Alk-phose is 167 down from 176. Everything the same, in range. For me though, I have discomfort in my liver area. Twinges and aches sometimes light pain. My doctor acts unconcerned and has me waiting until early November to have labs again. I'm on URSO for 2 years now with my Alk-phos being the only thing out of whack, never normalized but never went over 200. Now this. My Alt elavated. 😔 My guess is that my PBC must be progressing. I don't know what else to think.

Just looked back on my readings for this time last year and my levels rose then. I wonder if the dreaded winter that is closing in on us has anything to do with it, I know it effects the vitamin B. Think my GP will request another test but in the meantime I will get my lightbox out and see if that helps, anything is worth trying. I'm still lucky that the readings are not sky high like some PBCers
Stella,
LFT’s tests do not signify for pbc progression. Alk phos & direct bilrubin are the ones the heps watch I believe for progression.
How often do you do labs? I think every 3 months is a good frequency as a routine follow up.

Hi,
Thank you for telling me that. I forget stuff. I have labs every 3 months but because of this elavated ALT, my doc wants me to have them done in a month. My bilirubin is 0.27 and my Albumin is 3.6. My ALP is 167. ALT is 74. It been 24 for 2 years straight.
Right now my potassium is low and my liver hurts 😔.
I'm just stressing.

Try not to stress Stella as that brings its own problems. I heard Bilirubin is the one to watch for and yours looks nice and low. Keep us in the loop x
Yes; try not to stress as it does impact our conditions. Nov is not too far off. It is good that you are on top of this & your doctor is monitoring.
Hopefully it will drop back down. Not sure what you can do about the liver pain. What does the doc say?
Try not to over exert yourself & do something enjoyable for distraction in the mean time.
Hugs,
Haley
