Hi 246810

I am exactly the opposite, I have had no colds , viruses stomach problems (other than side effects of different meds) etc for the last 5 or 6 years. I was diagnosed just over 3 years ago.I wondered if it was because my immune system was overactive. Have you noticed an increase yourself?

Hi 246810

Sorry to read you are poorly. I did not experience infections but before diagnosis I would have said I was a healthy type.

Sometimes with PBC we are unable to store our vitamins so I wonder if you are a bit low. If you can get your b12 and vitamin D checked it may point you in the right direction. It is known that we cannot store the fat soluable vitamins ADE&K but I do not believe that doctors routinely screen for that. If you can ask your doctor it may be that they will recommend a multi vitamin.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for your reply . I have the docs today . Hope you keep well x

I can say I’ve had a lot less colds and If I do get one it seems a couple of days and it’s gone.

What I will say though if I do get an infection it seems like it takes me longer to get over it fully.

An infection just recently knocked me out I’am only just getting back to normal whereas before diagnosis a week and I would have been back on form. I think that’s the new normal for me with pbc fatigue to deal with on top of infection or being unwell.

If your catching everything going perhaps a word with your doctor would help identify the cause, have you had your iron checked perhaps your a bit run down. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes I had a series of chest infections which were drawn out. My GP took tests to see if anything underlying and eventually found pbc.

I have always been bad at fighting infections but definitely seem to get sick more often lately and suffer worse than anyone else around me. My immune system is terrible. Can’t say it is from the urso though

I am constantly sick! Last 2 Years I have been through 4 pneumonia stints and many viruses and infections. It’s been awful with trying to keep a good attendance at work. It’s been a very rough go these last couple years but now that I have an idea what’s going on, I can try to turn the tables and get healthy (if that’s even possible).

Haven’t been 100% diagnosed with PBC yet but MRI next month will confirm it. Still praying it’s not but sadly I have literally all the symptoms.

Yes I had numerous infections before I was diagnosed. I think I tried to do more than I could and my body was just not able to cope. I was off sick for a couple of weeks and then worked part time for a while. It was absolutely necessary for me. Listen to your body. I'm better and work full time today. If you rest when you need to brain fog and pain will not take over. I believe I function today because in the end I was forced by all the infections to slow down and rest properly at the same time as I started urso and prednisone. I'm off prednisone today, urso and vitamin D is enough to keep me reasonably healthy. So even if I am not always feeling great, I'm ok and I can work. Best thing is that brain fog is gone. Really hard to do a demanding job well when your thinking capacity is severely diminished.

Take the time that you need to get better!

J
