AMA Question

Hi everyone, I was just dismissed from my hepatologist because I have positive AMAs and have had them for 4 years now but with normal lfts and also had a biopsy that came back normal. My AMAs drawn 4 years ago was 1:70 and now they are 1:45. I know there a a few others like me on here with only AMAs and no PBC (as of yet) my question is, is my titre considered low and what are my chances I will ever get PBC. Does anyone else know their AMA titre? I was reading most people with PBS have one 160 or higher. Im still so worried! If anyone can answer me that would be great, you are all such a great help.

When I was diagnosed June 2017 my ANA titer was 1:640. Should be less than 1:40. My lab was sent to Austin.

I didn’t know AMA had a titer. That’s why I posted ANA Titer😊 my Mitochondrial M2 AB was 128.0. Should be less than 20.0

My AMA-M2 was 104. I was diagnosed last July and haven't had it checked since.

And try not to worry. I'm sure your primary doc will routinely monitor your liver enzymes, etc. and if not...ask them to keep a check on it. It will ease your mind and you may NEVER develop PBC. So in the mean time do a happy dance and enjoy life. Congrats on getting dismissed from the hepatologist💕

Thank you for responding! And yes, my dr will monitor my LFTs yearly.

AMA can indicate conditions other than PBC. Did you ever have elevated LFTs? Maybe you don't have PBC, and never did.

No, never had any other elevated LFTs, except slightly bilirubin but my dr said thats due to a benign condition called Gilberts Syndrome. That means my bilirubin will sometimes be slightly elevated on some blood draws, sometimes normal. Biopsy was negative

Elevated ALT, AST, and ALP, in a certain pattern, are necessary for a PBC diagnosis.

AMA M2 is suggestive of PBC. I believe there are 9 codes for AMA.
