Has anyone else been told not to eat raw fish? My boyfriend was just told that raw fish could greatly harm him, but I have not read or heard that anywhere else by anyone else with PBC.
Raw Fish?: Has anyone else been told not to... - PBC Foundation
Raw Fish?
Yes I have read reports about not eating raw fish, not only for people with pbc though-anyone. Can't remember the details but think it was something to do with parasites. Not something I eat anyway but after I read the article decided I never will.
Fish are full of plastic, parasites, poisonos metals and toxins. I'd avoid cooked as well as raw with liver issues.
I had asked my Hepatologist this regarding sushi when I was first diagnosed. He told me it was fine & I should eat more fish as it was healthy.
Seems like there are varied opinions here. Have him ask his doctor. Might depend on his particular circumstances.
Wow! I’ve heard no raw fish of any kind because of our immune system & risk of bacteria.
I eat sushi all the time.
Maybe I'll just ask my doctor again next time I see him.
Might be good idea😊
I remember that was one of the first questions I asked him & he told me it was fine.
I read oysters are bad for us but thats all i found.
Take fish oil omega 3 pills. This will get you covered. They are especially processed not to contain mercury. I'd definitely stay away from raw fish, there are so many risks with eating it, even for perfectly healthy people. Fish can never be controlled, like meat. I eat fish occasionally, but, well cooked. Why create additional problems when they can be easily avoided? There are enough problems that we can't control.
my friend has not long been rushed to hospital thru eating nearly raw tuna it had to much mercury in
I was told no raw fish of any kind
