Maybe see a neurologist if your doctor can't help you. I have peripheral neuropathy from autoimmune disease but burning is a symtom that can be from a few different things, I would ask your doctor he can refer you to have it checked out.
Hello Ohio82, for me, it felt like the soles of my feet were extremely bruised & on fire. Then it went into my legs. Before I went to see my neurologist my skin felt as if it was in extreme pain. Couldn't even handle hugs from my soon to be 9 yr old daughter without crying out. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Yet, one more autoimmune disease that no one can see but I can surely feel. I take Amitriptylin 50mg (generic form of Elavil) a hour before bed. It helps but Im going to see if she will increase the dose another 25mg which will then be the max dose. Im starting to have difficulty getting out of bed in the morning again, due to the soles of my feet. You might ask your specialist if they would refer you to a neurologist. Hope this has help a bit❤️
I too was given gabapentin, but the rheumatologist that prescribed it said for me to take it at dinnertime. Unfortunately, about 20 min after taking it I would be asleep & drooling in my recliner haha. I guess you could say that it helped a bit but it certainly did not help with getting my kiddo to bed or anything done in the evening simply because I was passed out🙄. I no longer take that.
Mine is spread over the day, 100mg 3 times a day and I have not experienced tiredness like that. We are all so different with how we respond to medications. My worst reaction when I doubled the dose as instructed after one week was the sudden appearance of bruising which I will speak to the doctor about next week. Needless to say I went back to the starting dose.
