No preservatives added makeup

So what type of personal care products are available. I hate not to have some basic makeup. Foundation, lip color, blush. But don't want to add any burden to my liver. Thanks in advance.

Ummm, Im a bit baffled by this. I go nowhere without my makeup. Nor will I ever do without it. Unless I become unable to apply it myself. But, my daughter will soon be studying cosmetology, she can apply it for me😊. I truly feel that you shouldn't go to such drastic measures. We might as well live in a bubble. Like I said in another post, the air we breath daily is more harmful than any hair color or any makeup. 😉

Agree with the other girls ! I have wide spread cirrhosis after 14 years but work as a nurse, look after my big family, colour my hair and wear make up ! No alcohol since diagnosis, take Urso and OCA ( still on trial here in the land of Oz), exercise when I can and enjoy my life ....my consultant says the trajectory I'm on ( towards transplant) one day will happen regardless. All I can do is take a deep breath and go for the ride !

Take it easy and don't worry too much...as Mark Twain said, he spent his whole life worrying about things, most of which didn't eventuate !

Hi Nanajo1962

My lovely step daughter who is very environmentally minded uses a company called Arbonne International. Her skin is flawless and very young looking for her mid 40s. I believe they have a method of selling through consultants rather than a presence in the High Street.

You can find reviews of this company if you google the name. In the UK another company which has a good reputation is the Body Shop but I think you may be in the USA.

hope this helps

They only thing I read about chemicals and PBC is nail polish gel type polish if you google it it may come up. It says there may be a link ! I couldn't believe it, I hope you can find the article. Very strange right to say the least I don't polish my nails anymore with the gel polish just regular and I let my nails go natural for a week in between now just in case there is some truth to this.

I use regular make up - I haven't changed my make up since diagnosis. My doctor didn't mentioned any changes - but I do know there are options out there of organic makeup.

I use ORIGINS face cream (always loved this) and regular (meaning bought anywhere) make up

I use, and sell Avon products. I have only been diagnosed 3 days, and on Urso. Not sure what else Im supposed to do/not do yet.

Sorry ladies, I don't agree on this one. Don't give your compromised liver anymore than it can handle - it's your choice of course. No more dying hair although there are some available without the chemicals. You can highlight - as long as it doesn't touch the skin - it will not be absorbed. Same with shampoos and conditions- do your research. We just do not need more chemicals that are hard on your liver.

Some nail polishes don't have the chemicals either.

I do not use plastic for straws, food storage, plastic cups etc because of the chemicals. I use glass or paper.

You can find makeup that does not have the chemicals - research it on the Internet.

It's true Dr does not tell you this, but some don't tell you not to drink either. It's also not them with the disease.

I think that is taking it too far, however I am presuming your not at end stage. If I was so poorly then maybe I might consider it. But as long as my bloods are fine & the urso is working I can't see any point in taking it all to this level. I eat low fat healthy, cook from scratch & have cut down/ out processed foods on the whole. I've been having my hair professionally coloured since I was 17 (I'm 56) wear the makeup I've always used & live my life to the best I can. I deal with the symptoms when they happen. I've given up Alcohol & Indian food because they made me physically ill not because I thought it best. My body will therefore dictate what's good for it. I live life & won't be beaten. I certainly won't be ruled by it. At the moment anyway. X

Love your way of thinking. I have said same thing, I can't beat it but will do everything I can do it doesn't beat me. 😊

I agree with teddybear7. Im in the later stages of this awful disease. Im just 43 yrs old. I try to eat as healthy as my budget will allow. But the few things that make me feel like myself are the simple things like keeping my hair looking nice & my makeup that is affordable for me. Like I said, I will not live in a bubble nor will I let PBC dictate every little thing I do. To each their own as they say😉. But, to worry about every little thing, all the time just seems too overwhelming for me. Maybe, if I'd have known more when I was in the beginning stages of PBC, I would feel differently. 🤔
