Fibroscan
Hi
I had a Fibroscan earlier in the year and it's not painful. It just detects the density of your liver. You may not want to know the result but it will help doctors to monitor how damaged your liver is
Mike
What is the difference between this test and mri, ct scan and ultrasound?
Not sure about MRI or ct scan but ultrasound just shows the shape of your liver. Fibroscan sends pulses through the liver to determine the density. The more dense the more diseased your liver has become. I think ct just gives a section image

Thank you. I have an apt with my GI doctor on the 17th. I'm not sure if he's going to diagnose me then or not. There is a part of me that believes that he's using the word possibly PBC just to let me get used to the fact that I actually have it. He prescribed Urso for me to take because my liver enzymes kept elevating. The same day that he prescribed the Urso, I got blood work results back stating that my enzymes was going down on their own. I do trust my medical team at this time. They have always taken good care of me. There never was really anything serious to take care of though. I tore my rotator cuff and I had a lump in my bicept that turned out to be a fatty thing. I have always been in great health until this. This is my first and it's a big one
Thanks!
Thanks
Hi, As I understand it a fibroscan measures the flexibility of the liver. I had one a few years ago. Similar to a regular scan. You can feel a slight pushing sensation but it's nothing.
I wasn't told my stage but my result was 8 I think. They just said it was what they expected for me.
Personally I have no interest in stages. Everyone is different though and you must do what is best for you.
Good luck
