Hi everyone, hope today's a good day for you. I've had what everyone is telling me, my first ever Migraine on Tuesday. Really bad never had one before, totally disabling. Just wondered if anyone one else had developed Migraine since being diagnosed. Before I take myself off to see my GP. X

Hi teddybear, I hope you are feeling better. I have suffered with migraines all my life. I have been getting them more frequently since being diagnosed but I don't know if it is because of PBC or not. I hadn't really thought of that. I am interested in knowing if it does. Please keep us posted when you see your GP. Take care

I've had migraines for years some are really bad with blurred vision and sickness, I take migraleve and top up with paracetamol, good luck with the Drs.

I find the children's cooling head strips help from chemist and eye pads, sunglasses help too to stop the flashes of light which can sometimes start the migraines off.

Hello,

Yes, I have begun having migraines since diagnosis of PBC. Had my first about a year and a half ago, had never had them previously. They can be very strong at times. Strong light or strong smells such as chemicals can trigger them for me.

I agree with Twinkle26, sunglasses are worth wearing frequently and sometimes the cooling migraine forehead strips ease it a little. I've been given migraine tablets recently, not needed them yet though. Usually I go for ibuprofren and avoid TV/ strong light etc until it fades.

Yes, worth going to see your gp, hope it goes well x

Thanks for your reply. This was beyond headstrips, sun glasses & seemingly no trigger. I woke up with it. Pain killers didn't work & dark room in bed job till 7.30 pm. I've never felt so ill. X

Horrible, one of those, yes at that point lie down in the dark is the only option isnt it.

I havent tried them yet, but as get them pretty regularly now too have been given Rizatriptan to try. You take it at the onset of a migraine, apparently they help if you take them early enough before it really kicks in. Cant comment on how useful they are yet, but when you next see your doctor you could ask if there is specific migraine medication you could take thats ok with PBC?

Hope you soon start to feel better x

Hi teddybear7

I never used to suffer with bad heads of any description but my sister did so I know how disabling they can be. However over the last few years (been diagnosed 10 years) I occasionally am wakened in the night by a blinding headache but when I get back off to sleep I usually wake up fine but not always. On the not always occasions the bad head will last for a couple of days but I cannot say they are the disabling migraine that my sister suffered.

Is it possible that the migraine you had on Tuesday could be related to anything you consumed or stress?

hope you get an answer.

best wishes

Thanks for your reply. I woke up with it. I had what I think was a pre curser three days before where the mice inside my head had boots on, felt sick, but eased off after a couple of hours with pain killers. This time I was physically sick. Pain killers didn't do anything & I had to go to bed in a dark room. It didn't lift till 7.30 pm from the morning. I've never felt so ill. X
