Hello again 2783.
I expect it is probable that in the near future your husband's appointments will space out a bit more if he starts responding well to the urso. It does take a bit of time though, well it did in my case.
My bloods (the LFTs - the liver function test - along with the GGT) all started to drastically improve within 2 months of me starting urso nearly 5 years ago not but the symptons did take that bit longer to start to improve (itching that is) and fatigue I did have during 2010 at some point during 2011 it just vanished. I did have a bit of yellowing in my eyes in 2010 but just at the corner and it wasn't noticeable. This can actually be due to cholesterol. It was of no concern to the consultant and have to say that since urso, my eyes are quite white. My skin was normal but with itching over the last 5 years it has toughened in odd places due to scratching and also where scratching has taken place over time, out in the sun it does tan that bit browner on exposed areas.
I too was 46 at diagnosis in Dec 2010, 45 when I started itching early on in 2010. I also had never encountered colds nor had been to the GP with anything minor since 1999. Now I hate it that I am on the doctor's radar.
I hope as time starts to clock on as time does, your husband starts to get on some even keel with this 'PBC lark' as I call it and that you can start getting on with life after the initial shock of it all. I've clocked up almost 5yrs of being diagnosed PBC but will be almost 6 that I started itching. I wasn't sure about 5 years on at the beginning but as you get to a year and then another, I do think you start to feel that more in control.
