Hi all, I have itching in my palm in hand a... - PBC Foundation
Hi all, I have itching in my palm in hand and feet sole for nearly 2 weeks.is it pbc could some help me in this
My itching is usually in the crease of my left arm at the elbow and prickly on my face. Sometimes it travels to the other arm and my back. If you are worried ask your doctor for a liver function blood test and go from there. At the time of my diagnosis the only certain way for confirmation was a liver biopsy.
hope this has been of some help
best wishes
Do you actually have a diagnosis of PBC, or are you just worried that you may have it?
If you don't already know you have PBC, I would just go to your GP and get the itching checked out. I'm sure there are lots of reasons for itching palms and feet. Then if there are other reasons for the GP to suspect PCB you can have the appropriate tests done.
If you know you have PBC, I would talk to the PBC foundation (link at the top of this page), as with PBC, so many people have such a wide range of symptoms, that often no two are alike. I gather that this is also true of the itching, with people reporting all sorts of different itching.
Good luck, and try not to worry.
I was diagnosed in 2011 with PBC but for me the itch comes in episodes and so far has died down within a week or so. It will be any part of the body from the head to toe and also feels as if something is lightly pricking me- also a feeling that little spiders are crawling on me - even up my nose. I am not on any medication but the GP has told me to get liver function tests done the next time it happens. He is no wiser than me about why this happens. I tend now to avoid spicy food , caffeine and alcohol but not sure if these are the culprits.
Hi - I notice I get more itchy if I eat chocolate and sugary stuff. Hope this helps. Diane
Thankyou guys..I will c the gp on monday ...
Hello kiruba04.
Now do you have diagnosed. Might sound like a silly question if you have but some post when they are still undergoing tests for the condition.
I started itching badly all over my body back in early 2010 and was diagnosed with PBC Dec 2010. The itch since starting urso at the time hasn't left me and it probably never will but it did improve over time. I now find the itch is confined to night time and though I might be fine during the day it is irritating on the nights I find I have woken up and can't return to sleep due to it.
Yes itching can be on the palms. My hands aren't so bad with the itch. My feet are ok until going up for 11p.m. and then I feel those in bed at night mainly. I tend to start itching on my legs and round the intimate areas around 9p.m. just as I have sat down to relax after being on the go all day. Then jwhen I go to bed it creeps lower down and my feet and toes start. I often itch on my arms to the elbows.
I am finiding now that winter is here, with heated building and then cold outside I can feel prickly in an heated room. For me I find that being very cool works best.
Itching on the body can be a sign of any liver disorder but there are also other things that can make us itch all over from allergies to even a kidney disorder. (I didn't know about the latter until my children's grandad developed kidney problems aged 80 and he was itching like mad all over.)
My GP took a blood test known as the liver function test (LFT) when I saw him for itching back in 2010 and it went from there to the diagnosis.
Thankyou Peridot,
The first day it started itching was, I felt the urge to go to toilet, by the time I waited before going to toilet my hands and feet started itching allover , it stoped only after emptying my stomach and came out of toilet, I was alright after that , but thats the wierdest moment I had it for the first time, it lasted for 2 mins. Any one had similar symptoms. Sorry for bothering ....bcz I gave bloodtest yesterday waiting for result.
