Hi Sydney, I've been out on a non drowsy antihistamine to help with the itching, and I must say does work a little, xxx

Hi dianemle, yes I felt really sick on Friday night, I'm on my 5th tablet tonight and still feel sick, headache, shaking inside and drowsy, but I'm going to carry on taking it. I'm sure it will all settle once it gets into our system, I have read it does really work and we could become itch free... heaven. Let me know how you go good luck xx

I was, it never worked for me, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you, it depends on each individual. The side affects were awful for me too, I thought PBC made me tired but sertraline was even worse I had to sleep all day long, as it an anti-depressant it made me my brain numb too. I was on it for a year, when I came off, I felt much better.

Been on this for any years on a very low dose and managed to stay free of the itch. Mind over matter or not, it has certainly helped.

I take anti depressants anyway and have done for 6 years, I take hydroxyzine hyrochloride at night for the itch and it's fantastic, my itching was horrendous I'd scratch myself so much I'd draw blood and my skin would be red raw too. Since taking them I hardly ever get the itch but when I do on the odd occasion it's very mild.

I know we are all different and some of us have other serious health problems so one medication for one person is just not suitable for someone else due to other meds they take, for example I take 12 different medications, as my family say, 'they can hear me coming, as I rattle'

Sorry I got put on it when I found out my husband was having an affair, that's in past but like you it did make me feel funny for a bit,I also understand it a bit as I was trained as dispensing technician...as for the itch I think Iv tried everything under the sun to no avail :((... I find personally my itch starts approx 15 mins after Iv eaten,it literally drives me nuts,to the point my daughters have held my hands down as I can scratch myself to bleeding point..I'm at stage tho where the itch is nothing compared to the joint pain & fatigue,I feel 80 never mind 50.

I have to agree that different meds work for different folk so it is about finding out what suits.

Take care everyone x
