I was diagnosed in Dec 2009 not realising I'd just fallen pregnant. I had my daughter July 2010 and last year found out the left lobe of liver and portal vein is enlarged. Consultant is going to do an upper endoscopy soon and has said to wait another 6 months until trying for another baby, to give my liver the best chance. Now I'm unsure if having another baby would be the best thing. I'm really interested to hear if anyone has had a similar story. Thanks.

I was diagnosed in 2004 having had two healthy sons that were just 2 and 3 at the time of my diagnosis. However , it would seem that PBC had probably been with me for at least five years prior to my pregnancies. The biggest problem I had when carrying them was the itch , so looking back I'm sure PBC was with me then. All I can say is hang in there and I wish you all the best and hope your endoscopy shows your liver is recovering. I always say its the best organ to be faulty - because it's the one organ that can re-generate .. . . . .
