I went to see a nurse for my annual review to be told I had high blood pressure ..
I replied yes it was at my Drs appointment last week and abnormal pulse…
his reply ,no that’s not wrote on your notes
well that’s why I was I was sent for my ecg ..I’m thinking he may have then believed me
This was giving me worrying upsetting vibes thinking what else hasn’t been put on my notes ..
Moving forward I than decided to (first time in my life) have a second opinion
This was a nightmare as he was just talking about my previous Dr and when I’m goin to see him next I brought up I was struggling to move and fatigue too many other concerned about possible P.E as close family members have been diagnosed and that a few bloods results being abnormal or higher than expected …especially my intrinsic factor antibodies stating abnormal on patient access but that they had put satisfactory normal on NHS…totally confusing he went on to actually start arguing with me turning the screen to me …I never had glasses on and to be truthful was getting upset thinking he is actually arguing as if I’m lying I fumbled through my phone obviously mad with my self as I wasn’t going to find it with no glasses and being upset …felt like a huge waste of time …humiliating upsetting…he did go on to say I could go to a chemist and buy b12 tablets they maybe worth a try ….I felt awful and started staring at the ceiling like I can’t explain ..but it didn’t feel like the person i am …i had no answers
There was more to the tale of that day but that’s enough for now I’m trying to forget it
I’m going to set myself up next time I will bring screen shot and bring forward on my phone …lesson learned and this has pushed me to book private pernious anemia blood test (also my first time) it’s my only way forward ..even if this doesn’t come back with the results I need for b12 injections it’s a real positive as I need to step out of my comfort zone

So sorry to hear your awful experience. I agree with Nackapan about taking someone with you, it does moderate bad behaviour. It's shocking to be treated so rudely, especially when you're feeling unwell and vulnerable. Hopefully you can see a different nurse next time.
Dear oh dear. Just remember that [some] nurses know EVERYTHING, and the patient can't possibly know ANYTHING, even if you've just been through the process. I've been told stuff by surgery staff [listed as 'Clinicians' meaning they work in a clinic. Not my definition of a clinician] and when I've questioned their interpretation, they become defensive and say 'you'll have to take that up with the doctor'. Knowing full well that the chance of that happening, given the state of appointments, is close to zero.
Finding that an original result is classed as 'abnormal' and then someone intervenes and classes it as 'satisfactory'? Good heavens... However, working in the NHS in the past I've seen similar things happen.
Is it any wonder when we visit the surgery, our blood pressure rises?!
Big hugs. It's so bloody awful how uncaring some medics can be. Especially when you are slow at responding!! Duh symptom! I used to be in tears by the end of every appointment and it's interesting that I'm not, now I'm getting myself enough B12.
Short story about wandering notes. I had an ectopic pregnancy, nearly died, I have the scar across my tummy, yet because of a screw up in A&E my maiden name got put on my notes. So these notes of course went awol, despite my NHS number being the same. I then became a medical fantasist!! You see they are perfect and never admit to doing anything wrong.
More big hugs. All I can say is take control, get an injection at a beauticians, or some dentists do them. When you know you aren't going to react, get your own supplies and change your life. Cut out the idiots and the drama. 🩵
The problem with a PA test is that it has a high false negative rate. If it is positive you know you have PA. If it is negative, you still could have PA. If you already have abnormal intrinsic factor anti-bodies, you probably have PA. Don't take any B12 before being tested. You should get your B12 measured as well. If your B12 is low, it is worthwhile to try every other day B12 injections even if your PA test is negative. If they make you feel more energetic, it would be wise to assume you have PA and keep getting injections for life.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. It’s upsetting to not have support from professionals who are literal gatekeepers to medicine, diagnoses and other professionals. I often wonder if it will become like the legal world, where we need a representative to interpret and advocate for us.
“Don’t say anything, Mrs T, this doctor just wants you to admit you’re anxious. We’re not accepting that diagnosis, Doctor, until you’ve run xyz tests.”
If it didn’t cost a bomb, it would actually be amazing.
I left info for those having difficult health experiences with B12 deficiency in these threads eg sources of support, organisations that help with complaints etc
It’s SleepyBunnies we need , How much good have so-called “ Health Professionals “ ever done for B12D/Pernicious Anaemia patients ! 3 cheers for SleepyBunny .
