A friend asked me if the radioiodine I took last January could have adversely affected my ability to absorb B12. It passed through the gut. I've read that it can affect other organs beside thyroid. I had not thought about this possibility till she mentioned it. Ha anyone come across this? I've emailed Dr Andrew Klein with this question. Thanks

I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to your question; however, I understand that if you have one auto immune disease it’s more likely you’ll get another.
In my own case, I had an overactive thyroid (Graves disease) which settled after 18mths/2 years on Carbimazole. I didn’t have RAI. 5 or so years later I received an (early) diagnosis of PA.
If you had the RAI for an overactive thyroid I’m wondering if, like me, you were just unfortunate in getting a second auto immune disease and that maybe the RAI had nothing to do with it?
