I am just recovering from a nasty dose of Covid and increased my dose of B12 to fortnightly.Unfortunately I am still feeling exhausted and wondering if it would help to increase it further.I am 87 and aware it may take longer to feel fully better.I would be grateful to hear of others experience and advice.Nevertheless a Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone.

If you're not supplementing with methylcobalamin, try a sublingual methylcobalamin. You're really looking to supplement the methyl group which they "think" takes a hit with COVID.
Thankyou Rexz,that’s interesting.
It is interesting. I inject methylcobalamin so in the normal process of B12 metabolism the methyl group is cleaved from the B12 and then becomes a methyl donor to other necessary processes. I am just a sample of one so clearly inconclusive but I sailed through the two times I had COVID with not even a sniffle.
I would up your frequency of what your body is already familiar with .
Unless you've had methylcobalabin before.
It does not suit everyone and could muddy the waters
Thank you Nackapan,I understand and am not going to experiment at this point. My query was really about increasing my number of injections to help to lift this exhaustion.Perhaps it will lift and I am just impatient to be rid of post covid symptoms.
I needed extra B12 post-Covid. It might be worth increasing yours too to see if it helps
Hi,
I have read research articles that suggest various vitamin deficiencies may be present in cases of Long Covid.
Search online for "Covid vitamin deficiencies" to find some.
Many of the articles mentioned low Vit D levels.
The UK government recommends that people take a Vit D supplement in the winter months

Have you got recent results for folate and iron and Vitamin D?
Many forum members report deficiencies in these as well as B12.
It's also quite common for forum members here to report thyroid problems.
Have you got any recent results for thyroid tests?
Thyroid UK forum on HU is a good place to ask questions about thyroid.
I'm not medically trained.
Hi. I think Covid led to a long deterioration in my health. When tested my folate and Vitamin D levels were low. This hadn’t been the case previously. Getting them back to normal levels has made a huge difference. I was advised to use Better You Vit D/K2 spray ( I get it from Holland and Barrett) and prescribed folate (private consultant). I was already self-injecting every other day).
I hope you soon feel a lot stronger.
Hi. As said above, folate and vits D/K, C and Magnesium need to go with B12. Also daily electrolytes.
Noting your age, (I am 73) , I find rest is underestimated. You sound brilliantly motivated, like me, to optimise what we can still do. But sleeping whenever the body says sleep night or day seems very healing to me after surviving covid bouts.
I’m also longhaul covid with PA, and have found Jointace Max addresses my flu like symptoms. As does Pregnenolone, taken in small regular doses for a while , which might also help the thyroid and energy levels.
I hope this helps and you have a great New Year.
I found my symptoms only improve with strong antihistamines. I know long covid causes inflammation, cytokine storm in the body. Inflammation can cause tiredness.
I’m also experimenting with grounding which I thought was a load of hippie nonsense but there is some science to back it up. I bought a grounding sheet for the bed and a small one to put my feet on when sitting in my armchair. They say it reduces inflammation and improves energy levels. It basically allows you to physically connect with the earth when inside which changes the charge in your body speeds up blood flow etc. of you consider it do your research there’s loads of cheap knock off products and dodgy companies. I went with Earthing Revolution as they have good trust pilot reviews and are uk based.
I’ve been earthing or grounding for a week all night and occasionally in the day. I definitely sleep better and longer, feel a tad calmer too…. I think other impacts take longer.
When I was very ill but able to walk in the garden only.I tried everything to get better.
One thing was walking barefoot on the grass early mornings.
I think the neighbours thought it odd !
I thought it odd but willing to try it.
Grounding/ bare feet good if able but I think you csnt beat real natural earth.
No idea I'd it helped but it certainly was a nice feeling as cold so helped balance i think ??
No idea what I'd read .
I would strongly NOT recommend to

It snowed here yesterday!!
Rest. Good food. Extra B12 and take a multivit .
After having to 'purge' for a colonoscopy, then immediately catching norovirus my need for B12 dramatically increased. I increased to weekly SI hydroxo for some weeks, and supplemented further for about a month with sub lingual methylcobalamin twice weekly, all of which really helped. Unfortunately, following the colonoscopy I seemed to catch everything going around. I know it will be a slow recovery but it's currently a work in progress rebuilding my gut microbiome, which I personally believe has been the foundation of my previously good immunity alongside my B12 supplementation.
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that appears to show the symptoms of long term COVID mirroring those of B12 deficiency isn't there? My response is personal, not based on any real scientific knowledge.
When I had Covid (about this time of year four years ago) I remember missing an injection or two, as I was just too ill to do them. It took about three weeks to recover and I felt that extra B12 injections helped.
This was fairly early on, so not much information about recovery being passed on at this stage - but I had a telephone appointment with a GP on day 13, who told me that if I was going to get worse, I would have by this stage. Whether this has proved to be true now statistically, I am not sure but I was relieved to hear it at the time.
Further to Sleepybunny's reply, I remember reading that vitamin D and magnesium, alongside B12, being found effective by researchers looking into keeping older patients, hospitalised with Covid, from the crucial stage where they needed respiratory help. They called this treatment DMB.
So it would be worth checking both of these levels as well.
Generally, I have found that, if I am ill, have had a procedure, or have been extra busy, a temporarily more frequent B12 regime helps me get back on track.
HiI've been dealing with long covid for 3 years. It caused a massive b12 deficiency for me. Given you're already supplementing I wouldn't necessarily go higher without bloods to check your levels (although be aware you should repeat them in a few months. Mine went from fine to basically nothing in 6 months). Too much b12 can also be problematic.
What I would do is vit d & k2 & iron. Try to get drops/sprays instead of pills. Pills did very little for me. But those two and b12 injections have been the only things that have helped me. Also please rest as much as you possibly can, especially in these early stages. It's really important to avoid more damage.
Wishing you all the best.
Every time I've had covid it's lowered B12, folate, iron/ferritin and vitamin D! Can you do a vitamins blood test with your GP or someone like Randox health? I had to SI twice a day to recover from covid. And time obviously. If worried, chat to GP. Get well soon. x
