I'm looking for help with my 37 year old sons recent blood test please. Serum B12 421 (197 - 771) Ferratin 86 (30 - 400) Folate 4.1 (2.1 - 25.8)......and Eosinophil????? 0.6 ( 0 - 0.5) - this above average. He has some issues...irritable/impatient/overwhelmed/psyched/lack of energy/disinterested/poor memory/lack of concentration/quick pulse Does anyone think he would benefit from a theraputic course of B12 and maybe some co factors.........should he get his intrinsic factor anitbodies checked first?..I am in a quandry to know how to help him and am probably paranoid as my PA wasn't picked up for years and I have a terrible tremor along with many other issues. I'm sorry to hear that you are concerned about your son.
I post a lot of information and I suggest reading a bit a day over a couple of weeks so it's not so overwhelming.
Some links I post may have details that could be upsetting to read.
My experience and that of many other forum members here is that some health professionals have a limited understanding of PA and B12 deficiency from other causes.
There can be lots of reasons for raised eosinophils.
Allergies and internal parasites eg fish tapeworm are two possibilities.

Does he eat raw or uncooked fish eg sushi, smoked salmon or has he lived or stayed in an area where internal parasites are common? Internal parasites can lead to B12 deficiency.
From personal experience I know it is possible to have severe B12 deficiency symptoms with normal range serum B12.

I think you are right to be concerned. Some forum members wait many years to get a PA diagnosis.
There are other causes of B12 deficiency besides PA eg diet, Coeliac disease, some medicines and drugs, drinking excess alcohol, internal parasites, other gut conditions etc.
Does he have any gut issues?

Some UK forum members turn to treating themselves when NHS treatment is not enough.
Some get extra B12 injections privately, some try high dose oral B12 (1000mcg or higher) but this doesn't work for some (didn't for me) and some as a last resort turn to self injection (SI).
I'm not medically trained just someone who suffered for years from unrecognised and untreated B12 deficiency.
