Injecting requirements from medisave.co.uk —
For I.M. ( Intramuscular ) and Sub-cut ( subcutaneous)
2.5ml syringes ( for 1 or 2 ml ampoules )
My favourite syringe is the luer lock type. You can “screw” the needle onto the syringe , which makes it really secure .
Withdrawal needles- Coarse long needles say 19G x 1 1/2 inches or blunt withdrawal needles - 1 1/2 inches
———————————————————————— For I. M. Injections. - 26G x 1 inch needle or 25G x 1inch needle . ( injecting into the Vastus Lateralis muscle. Into the middle outer third of the thigh , where that muscle is nearest the surface )
————————————————————————
For subcutaneous injections. 30G x 1/2 inch needle into the tummy fat , or the front of the thigh .
———————————————————————
Also a yellow sharps bin and some alcohol swabs .
————————————————————————
Hope this helps . Best wishes .
I get mine ftom exchangesupplies
Medisave sent me a marketing email today. I’ve used them and bought a box of 100 recently.
I haven’t seen any shortage of injecting supplies?
are you in the UK?
yes x - I can see they are available on a couple of sites
I had previously ordered them from medisave but they are sold out as are a couple of other sites. The nice thing about Medisave was that they sold the needle and syringe complete - which saved confusion on my part.

I just get confused as to what needle to order which will fit the syringe.
Hi - I’ve not been able to source the BD Eclipse 23g 1 inch Luer lock needle and was wondering about asking for alternatives on here. This was the needle originally used when a nurse taught me to self inject (along with the needle to draw the B12 solution into the syringe).
Medisave did have them but I didn’t order because you now have to declare you’re a medical professional etc and I didn’t feel comfortable doing so (but think I should have done!). Anyway they’re now on backorder on that site too.
I see Wedgewood suggests 25 or 26g so I will look for an alternative (not sure if the numbering means they’re finer than 23g).
I ordered some from Reflex Medical about a month ago as a back order but they’ve not come in and I’m running low now.
No shortages observed. I don’t categorise SC or IM. I buy diabetic fixed needle syringes 1ml, graduated in 100 units, the needle is 13mm (12.7) and 29G. I just inject straight into the arm or thigh and have found no problems with it, plus it’s painless apart from a little stinging sometimes from the fluid going in. I do like to swab the area so I order swabs. Syringes and swabs are my only expense. Buy them from Medisave.
