Can my feet be recovering ?

Hello Everybody,

I have had PA for about 40 years. It was diagnosed in South Africa and I was on monthly injections. A trial of using oral medication approximately 12 years ago proved to be a disaster, A restart of loading dose etc did not help very much. I ended of on weekly injections.

I now live in Sweden, . I was left with neuropathy in my feet which are just about numb. My hands are not 100% either. My balance is useless, I use a walker and a wheelchair. Approximately 4 months ago I increased my s/c injection to every 3 days from weekly as I was not sleeping well and getting very tired , The last couple of days my feet have been most uncomfortable feeling as if they are swollen, hot and about to burst. when i check them they look normal and actually are cold to touch. Could this possibly be the nerves recovering after all that time ? I wonder what would happen if I injected daily.

Any suggestions from this forum of wise folk would be welcome. Stay positive 👍😀

Exactly the same as me. My walking is much better with cold feet, (sometimes they are so cold they go a strange colour) When my feet get hot they swell and become heavy, making walking a harder task. When they are cold they are lighter and allow easy of movement. On hot days, I sit with my feet in very cold water, which helps.

I do hope so Lambsluck. I am working on the assumption (after refering to Japanese studies) that we need a maintenance dose of B12 to just keep stuff running when you are fit and well and uninjured. Are you keeping a track of your health - mood? energy? sleep quality ? brain fog? I would recommend that if you are using more B12..

My own ( non-medical) view is you need a good deal more B12 ( for recovery and repair) when you are injured in some way i.e. nerve damage etc.. I too have nerve damaged feet and hands ...and I used a big long Loading Phase x 3 the UK NICE baseline dosage ED - 1.5mg AM and PM. With my mix of co-factors.

I am now sustaining 1.5mg EOD and besides the better moods and loads more energy...i can walk on my feet without the awful aches and pains i used to get. I still have numbness in my feet ...but its a different numbness....i cant explain it.. But the pain is much much lessened.

But I know it will take a long time to repair if it ever does fully.... but its way better. I can now wear my strappy summer sandals that have been in their expensive box for 3 years! B12 is water soluable and what i consider as a "Ready Fuel for blood production, DNA generation etc.. and is there for fast uptake and use by the body.... I work on the theory ( like many in here) that I need my own regime - and I use the B12 SI's to the best effect i can get....so i use more B12 and Co-Factors ...more frequently. I also use sub-lingual in between SI's - especially when exercising etc.

I wish you good health and glad to hear it might well be having a good effect!

It sounds like they could be recovering! It would be worth trying very day injections to see what happens. You don't have to worry about too much B12.
