Finally have confirmation of my worth!

Totally off-topic but I have to vent somewhere!

Just over one year ago I was the passenger in a car which hit something in the road which had disappeared by the time we regained consciousness. No-one to this day even the Police have any further information. My sister the driver was considered at fault as I believe is normally the case. Both taken to hospital by ambulances with minor injuries which have continued to trouble us to this day. We are both in high 70’s.

Only people given insurance information were police and ins company notified. From early next day I was getting phone calls galore intimating they were our insurers and requesting info. In the end A kind male neighbour told them all where they could go. For the following week or so I was getting in excess of 500 texts per day mainly accident claims company right down to very questionable offers😧.

Cut to chase Insurance company denied this could be them selling on our details and were downright nasty to us but settled claim and trebled policy cost from that date First and only claim in life!

I was advised to pursue a claim for injuries which I have done through a reputable Claims Company having examinations etc.

Not a huge sum arrived at and was submitted 3 weeks ago. Yesterday I received the perceived value of my suffering - one penny! yes £0.01p.

So now I know my worth. Feel insulted but more worth it is not worth fighting on in this world any more.

Thank you for allowing my vent

Hi Nonameme,

I am dreadfully sorry of all you and your sister have been through whilst living with Health Conditions. All the stress can impact and exacerbate what you live with.

With regards to the nuisance calls, texts and scams, it is good that your neighbour sorted it out but the advice is that you do not answer your phone unless you recognise the number. If you have a landline then let them leave a message and you call them back even if it your best friend. You screen your calls, texts and emails.

We are now in this instant society, where people can attempt to get hold of us anytime, any place, any where. SMART devices have an airplane mode ; how many people use it ? Not many, I can tell you. We have become addicted to technology. Lots of people have fallen into the trap that they need to answer or respond ASAP. You do not.

Sorry to learn about the trebling cost in policy. With regards to the paltry sum, a decision maker named Bob has categorised in this particular instance of those isolated circumstances a figure of settlement. Good old Bob. Does he know you Nonameme as a person ? Does he know your sister ? No and No.

Me being me, I would write a completely over the top Thank you letter to “Bob”. Describing how I was going to put the cheque into a high interest account of 39.7 % for 18 months. Then with the proceeds buy several shares on the FTSE 100. So that I have a nice little nest egg. Then tell him to enjoy his holidays.

However, Bob is not worth the time or energy. In order for someone to insult you, you have to value their opinion. What do I think of Bob ? Forgotten him already. You know your own Self Worth, Nonameme.

Cymerwch ofal, cariad.

😘

Hello Nonameme, I am so sorry that you and your sister have had such a dreadful, difficult and prolonged experience .

I can well understand you being very upset and angry regarding the 1p award! Disgusting isn't it. It's the System though, where money and rules are valued more than people.

Your own worth is PRICELESS.

Hugs, x🌷
