Serum folate 7,(3.1-20.1) completed loading dose, being retested in 8 wks, is it best to take folic acid now, or wait for re-test please?

Hi

My folate is lower in range and I was discussing red cell folate test (thank you FlipperTD!)as a way of checking folate privately. I am now wondering what’s best to do if anyone has any advice please. Is it important I wait to see how b12 settles in and see what happens with folate result in 8 wks with Dr, or do I test red cell folate to get a clearer picture & if it’s low then option of reporting to Dr & possibly getting treatment from them, or would you just get on and take methyl folate (I have partial absorption due to gene) please. I’m trying to do things in the right order, but obviously want to feel better quickly as possible.

Im getting lots of pins needles/shocks down left hand side & presume this is due to the b12 waking things up,& know that can be a long process due to past experience, but also wondering, if by treating the b12 can it unearth this as a symptom from folate now?

have paid for many tests in past, am happy to do so if this could help, but obviously just want to direct it in the right direction & getbwell as quickly as poss!

kind regards, many thanks,
