Guys, I'm in need of advice, please. I've been in severe pain with wisdom tooth and another tooth that was broken at the root. So, the dentist put me on antibiotics and ibuprofen 800 for 10 days and sent me to an oral surgeon to have the work done. I was given nitrous oxide and every since then I am a nervous wreck. I'm so afraid of going back to what I was before being diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia but because I'm having similar memory problems, also that sensation where it feels like it's an electrical current inside my body, night terrors literally waking me up with as much fear as you would have if a bear were chasing you. Back in the bed most the days because spine area hurts (this is a new symptom). The antibiotics also had a toll on the gastritis and stomach out of wack. I'm thinking it had to be the nitrous oxide and/or the heavy doses of antibiotics, and the after pain med ibuprofen 800 she prescribed. So, Instead of injecting once every 21 days, I thought maybe I should go back to when I started with loading doses 1 per week and a lot of probiotics for stomach. How long do you think for me to get back to feeling better and does anyone here know if getting this dental procedure with the gas did this to me? I I couldn't find a lot of info on it because when I searched nitrous oxide it kept showing nitrous oxide abusers info. In my case this was administered by a surgeon and in only one single use that was less than probably 15 minutes. The way I'm feeling, I WILL NEVER get this again. My dentist MUST find another way. Please let me know your thoughts and thank you in advance. Have a peaceful day.

It is well-known that nitrous oxide can neutralise B12 in the blood, so your problems are probably caused by it. Hang in there. It will pass. Of course, you can try more frequent injections which might help.

Get yourself some B12 injections. As am111 says nitrous oxide destroys up to 50% or more of serum B12. If you've been diagnosed with PA and need injections then then you may want to consider staying clear of nitrous oxide.

Yes Rexz, I will definitely be steering clear. It set me back in the process I was making with PA.

well, as long as your kidney and liver function tests were normal, eliminating any preexisting issues with those organs; when liver and kidneys are healthy, b12 is not toxic at any dose nor will it cause any issues with liver or kidneys, this I highly recommend injecting daily. I can't emphasize this enough! It will take a month to get back to normal if you started at normal, longer if you were behind before all this recent things.

And I had to inject twice a day. 1.5 mg each to get any noticeable progress.

also, I wonder if it wasn't injections for numbing at the dentist that depleted my b12 recently. But couldn't find any med journal stating correlation

But to be clear, I'm talking about the injections not nitrous. Nitrous for sure will deplete.
