Hi Kittykat50,

Please make an appointment with your GP so they can order blood tests such as thyroid, B12, iron panel, diabetes and a referral to gastroenterology.

I can see from a previous post that you were having Hydroxycobalamin injections. However, you had a very significant life event which I am dreadfully sorry to learn of.

Keep a food diary, note your stools as well. GUTS U.K. also are a great charity to contact.

There are many medical reasons for weight gain and it is a doctor’s remit to investigate. Please consider asking for a dietician’s input.

Sending a very gentle hug.

Thank you for replying. I've had appointments to go to endoscopy for test but having them yrs ago I'm scared Again. But have never gained weight like this only when I used to eat loads in 90s but was very thin so needed the weight.

This time I'm irritable low

But I'm going to call my GP right now.

Many thanks.

Kitty

Big hugs, that sounds scary. Definitely get to see a Doctor ASAP. I've had an infection recently and blew up like a balloon. Then had a rather dramatic deflation! Needed antibiotics.

Poor you

Get it sorted and hopefully it won't be as bad as your worries.

You may want to ask your doctor to order an ultrasound of the liver, pancreas, and spleen. Ascites is fluid in the abdomen sometimes caused by fatty liver or other conditions. Also, a comprehensive stool analysis may identify some of the causes such as infections, and zero in on fungal infections if you have high carb intake.

That sounds very serious! I hope you can get to a doctor very soon and find out what is going wrong. Rapid weight gain like that is not normal and is a sign that something is wrong. Very best wishes!
