A good find.Thanks
Thank you so much —An excellent article . ,Wish that all GPs would read it .
I sent it to my GP along with the press release and reference to my PA history. Nothing in reply. Perhaps the worst thing is, I didn't expect a reply.
Excellent article. Thank you so much.Needs to be force fed to some GPs!
A very useful and comprehensive summary of B12 d. If only most doctors would read and digest this we would be in a much better place…
Thanks for posting.
I have seen this report before but forgot where I saved it. 🤔 Now I do believe memory was one of the symptoms listed. 🤣
Do you know where to find saved items on the site ?
I save these sort of things onto my reading list On iPad Jillymo. It’s the only thing that hits me in the eyes when I open my iPad lol then I can re read if I want to. X
I have an Ipad but dont use it ! I use my little lap top but havn't a clue where to store my documments.
I used to press save on here if anything interesting popped up but cant seem to find saved items. 🤪
I'm no wizz kid on the computer. 🤔
Hi,
If you have time, click link below to see what responses researchers , health professionals ,patient representatives and patients have left about the article.
bmj.com/content/383/bmj-202...
In the comment from 1st Dec was "Most patients with B12 deficiency can take high-dose oral B12".
I've read that PA is the most common cause of B12 deficiency in UK and most PA sufferers I've spoken to in UK need B12 injections and far more than NHS provides. I don't have a PA diagnosis and I cannot manage on oral B12.
I also thought the person writing this response may have misunderstood Wolfenbuttel's comment " The clinical picture is the most important factor in assessing the significance of results of blood tests".
I thought what Wolfenbuttel was getting at was that patients can have B12 deficiency with normal range serum B12 not that clinicians should wait until a patient has symptoms before treating.
I'm not a scientist or health professional and may have understood as very tired today.
I'm so pleased to see that patients are commenting on this article and hope more do.
Interesting from Dr Ansari, "Most, if not all, GPs will be able to recount stories of people who have been prescribed lifetime B12 supplementation for borderline results leading to situations where they become incredibly symptomatic through administration of B12 injection that is 2-3 days late."
Why does he think that might be?
Good to see PAS members mentioned. Thank you for posting 🌻
this is a great article! Thanks!
