B12 injectables in Australia

Hi, I’m moving back to Australia next month after 15 years living in Europe.

My question, can anyone in Australia advise me on where to get Hydroxocobalamin injectables? Is it easy to find? Can I buy over the counter? I’ll visit a doctor as soon as possible, but will they be understanding and prescribe frequently? Sadly, Germany won’t post yo Australia because of customs etc.

Any advice appreciated 😊

You can buy b12 Hydroxocobalamin ampoules in Australia from

yourdiscountchemist.com.au

chemistwarehouse.com.au

Look for Hydroxocobalamin B12 injection or Neo-B12

These pharmacies will also supply New Zealand .

Best wishes .

In Australia now and can’t find any Hydroxocobalamin ampoules in the Canberra area. Have you had any look sourcing it? I tried all the online pharmacies but they are all out of stock. What do you do? Desperate cos I only brought 5 ampoules with me from Spain.

Thank you

Heard of great shortage of B12 ampoules in Australia 4 days ago and could tell member that you can obtain b12 ampoules from 2 German online pharmacies, which take about 10 days to arrive in New Zealand or Australia.

Namely

shop.apotal.de

mycare.de

To read all about that go back on the forum messages for 30 posts and read the post headed “BrenandDave . “ 4 days ago

The good news is that it is available over the counter.

The bad news is that there appears to have been a recent law change and most chemists will only sell 1 box (of 3) at a time.

Your discount chemist has a limit of four at the moment

Hi Troy, I’m in Australia now and everywhere seems to be out of stock till next February! I’m in Canberra. Is it the same where you live? What can I do? Desperate now.

Thank you

I'm in NZ and it is the same here. I am getting mine from Germany now. From mycare.de but, in a recent thread wedgewood found another German supplier, apotal.deSearch for that thread and you will find more information about ordering. It was started by brenanddave about five days ago.

Good luck. Hopefully the supply issues will be resolved sooner than they are saying

Thank you. Happy to know that.

Hydroxocobalamin is available over the counter at any pharmacy in Australia, the only recommendation I can give you is if you intend on going to a GP with a nurse to administer your B12 the government schedule is every three months. If you intend on self injecting on a more regular basis you can order needles via your pharmacy (insulin needles)

Thank you. I self inject. But was wondering is it cheaper with a script?

No script is required for Hydroxocobalamin. If you want Methylcobalamin then a script is required and much more expensive.
