Where to purchase Vitamin B12 Ampoules online for Australia?

Does anyone know what happened to vitaminb12online.com? I can't seem to reach it. I am currently in Australia and b12 ampoules are available over the counter but I live quite far away and would like to purchase a bigger order online. Does anyone know of sites that ship within Australia? Or to Australia? Many thanks in advance.

I only have once source for Australia which is actually an Australian company which supplies all the different types of B12 ampoules. Namely Cynocobalamin, Hydroxocobalamin and Methylcobalamin. You can order boxes of ampoules and also kits with syringes and needles . vitaminb12online.com

You will maybe get better information from Australian members . But if not that is a possibility . Best wishes from U.K. .

Thanks wedgewood - is that site working for you? For some reason when I try to reach it, I receive an 'Error 1020 Access Denied' page. Strange!

Hi Irenekkkk I am in NSW and buy Methylcobalamin from Oxford Bioscience in the Uk. You will find them online and different sizes and strength. I buy the 40mg and dilute the powder with 10ml of sterile normal saline. I had been using Hydroxycobalamin 1mg and was fed up injecting IM daily. The beauty of buying the 40mg is that it lasts for nearly a month and I give it sub cut in the abdo. 0.25 ml is equivalent to 1mg. The convenience is great, but scrupulous care is needed for good infection control.

Wow, thanks for all the info Whatnow1! You seem like quite the pro with it. I have only ever done the 1mg injection, but I do like the sound of that. I will look into this. Many thanks!

We do not advise the use of reconstituted b12 powder because if the danger of contamination .

I’ve just tried it from this page and it took me straight to the site . I can’t understand why it doesn’t work for you . Tryvitaminb12online

It must be my computer... I'll have to do some reconnaissance to figure out how to fix it - or get one of my more tech-savvy friends to assist. Either way, thanks for the reference and the information re: reconstituted B12.

I hope that you manage to get on that site . Single use ampoules are the very safest way to administer B12 injections .Yes the reconstituted powder sounds so very convenient , and you would probably be fine with it (. I tried it myself once , before I found out how to get single use ampoules from German online pharmacies , which is now more difficult for us since Brexit, But stopped when we were warned against it on this forum ) . But there’s that added danger with something made up in larger quantities and kept . I wouldn’t risk it , but it’s up to you !

There is NOTHING wrong with methyl b12 in raw powder form, as it comes from Oxford Bioscience who are a legitimate professional company, who follow all lab sterile conditions

I personally prefer ampoulles, but the raw powder in no way inferior

So far as I can see, no-one is saying there is anything wrong with the powder itself.

But if you consider the difficulty in getting bona fide Water for Injections, and the issues of making up a sterile substance suitable for injection, then there are too many possibilities for mistakes.

Seaspary1998. The vials from OxfordBioscience are multi dose vials. Once the sterile saline for injections is opened and mixed with the powdered methylcobalamin, these are no longer sterile and saving for multi dose injection means that the user is ultimately and inevitable injecting a substance that has been stored in a non-sterile environment. There is therefore a potential contamination issue.

Multi dose bottles sealed with a bung (which this is not) should be destroyed after 28 days - and that’s when sterility is maintained via the thick rubber bung. Reconstituted methylcobalamin powder is 'open to the elements', no longer sterile, and therefore not suitable for multi dose use.

For this reason, we do not recommend it for multi-dose use and always recommend sterile single dose ampoules of B12 for injection.

I'm Sorry you seem to object to the information provided.

This is an open public forum and you are not the only person reading here.

You consistently intimate that the methylcobalamin powder you speak of is safe for injection purposes. It is not.

This is a member safeguarding issue and the information provided by me is for ALL to read, so that forum members are able to make informed decisions relating to the injection (or not) of this substance. Clearly, the advice here is to NOT use this product for injection.

It’s a little disappointing that you are unable to recognise the reasons for posting this information.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with the Methylcobalamin powder . I have NEVER said that it is in any way inferior.) It’s the fact that it is made up into a large amount that makes it vulnerable to contamination , even when strict precautions are taken . That is the problem with it . It is sold in that way to get around the fact that injectable B12 is a prescription item in the U.K. Sold as a powder it isn’t . But there are dangers involved in a made up quantity ,namely Contamination! The saline necessary to reconstitute it is also a prescription item .Always stick to single use ampoules .

That could be said for any medication; personally I prefer ampuoules, far less hassle and I would be worried about accidently overdiluting

Foggyme profile image
FoggymeAdministrator in reply to Seaspray1998

Seaspray1998. Sorry but you’re missing the point. This could not be said about any injectable medication.

Any medication that is suitable for injection purposes is sold in sterile sealed ampoules or sterile sealed multi-dose vials or as powder contained in sterile single dose ampoules or sealed multi-dose vials (both for reconstitution with a recommended sterile solution - usually normal saline - the former for single dose and the latter for use for up to 28 days).

The Methylcobalamin powder of which you speak is sold in a non-sterile screw top bottle marketed for multi-dose injection use and does not meet ANY of the strict criteria ALWAYS associated with and applied to injectable grade medications.

In this sense, it’s not a matter of personal preference or the risk of miscalculating dilution. It’s wholly to do with the contamination and associated infection risk (including sepsis) associated with injecting a non-sterile substance into the body. This is NEVER done by any medical or healthcare professional or in any healthcare environment or establishment. This is precisely why this forum and its more knowledge members advise against using this type of methylcobalamin powder for injection, as wedgewood and others do here.

Oxford Bioscience are a very reputable company and they sell their methyl b12 in a sterile bottle

Yes it is preferable to have the individual glass ampoules, but as now Arnika due to Brexit has stopped delivering to the UK, if you need Methyl b12 then thats the only way currently (unless you know of another supplier?) you can obtain it, and within the UK

You can equally have the same non sterile conditions when si b12 using ampoules, if you dont follow basic hygiene

Foggyme profile image
FoggymeAdministrator in reply to Seaspray1998

Once again you’re missing the point. This is marketed as a multi dose bottle. Once both the bottle and the sterile saline are opened and mixed, the sterile condition is 'broken' and therefore the product is NOT suitable for storing in its now non-sterile condition and is not safe to use for multiple injections, over periods of time.

My previous comments stand.

Please can you stop advocating for this product.

I've just tried the link from wedgewood from here inside Australia and it took me nowhere. I've written to them in the past and received no supply so I suspect there might be some internal geoblocking going on here and they're not interested in selling inside this country. You can buy 3-packs of the ampoules of hydroxo online from almost any major pharmacy in the country so search around and see the best deal - it changes from week to week. One I use frequently is in Melbourne and shares its name with the department store DJs, who will pack several boxes of ampoules in one shipment for a flat postage rate and they're quick to supply.

I also ordered 100 x Rotexmedica b12 Hydroxocobalamin from mycare.de on 26th June and was shocked to find it arrived today even with our international flights being cut in half!
