Question about mood

does anyone else get depression like symptoms, anxiety like symptoms and just an overall flat affect as you wait the month out for your next injection? I was self injecting in between but the needle jabs are starting to really hurt now so I stopped.

A known symptom.Have you tried subcutaneous b12 injections if you finding doing IM onex too much.

As sounds like you need the ones in between.

You get a higher heart rate if you are lacking oxygen in the system. Your heart has to pump more. I find this triggers anxiety. Which then makes it all worse. Yes, I was really tearful yesterday, just overwhelmed with having this illness, feeling uncared for by medics, uncared for by family who miscomprehended my childhood B12 deficiency diagnosis. My faulty memory is connecting dots that didn't connect years ago, and the trouble that caused and the people who played me because of it.

You need more B12 for the psychological stuff, it is neuropathy. I find self injecting non painful, compared to others doing it. Just choose a different spot every time, do use a sterilising swab, relax, take it slowly.

Then plan something as a reward, because tomorrow you will feel better.

One of the most depressing things that happens is when I mention I have PA and the mention is met by a blank look and a general glazing over. There is so little awareness of this illness which is depressing and isolating in itself. On a more positive note, however, whilst visiting a hospital for my poorly eye I had a great conversation with a hugely well-informed member of the medical staff who understood what PA means. Gratifying and very reassuring. I felt heard and seen. But so far unique in my medical world.

Orchard33, I just say I have an illness like Multiple Sclerosis. People understand that. 😉

Great to read about eye appointment and the medic. Several times, I have wanted to climb over a desk and kiss a doctor because they knew or wanted to know.

Informative regarding MS … the destruction of the myelin sheath of nerve cells is similar to the damage undx and/or untx PA causes.

Hi Schpsych2414,

Yes, I would cry over how cute puppies on tv were. They’re so lovely. 😭 Pathetic really then I would inject and be my normal, weird, quirky self. 🙃

Hi Schosych

Great advice above. I would defo up the SI and try SC if you can. Also look to your cofactors and supplements. To get better you need to fight for health on a range of fronts. Not just B12.
