Can I inject twice a day?

Thanks to you guys I have been happily managing my B12 deficiency by self injecting Hydroxocobalamin 1500 every day. Of I don't inject daily my symptoms come back very fast.

I recently had surgery and couldn't move my arms the day after surgery so couldn't inject then so I missed a day here and there because I couldn't physically inject and nobody could do it for me.

I'm not 100% sure but it always seems like if I'm ill my B12 depletes quicker and I've been struggling the past week with foot and hand twitching which is one of the symptoms I get when I'm low on B12. I wondered too whether my 3 hour surgery could impact on my levels.

I have some sublingual tablets they aren't a patch on injections.

I wondered if I could inject twice for a couple of days to boost my B12 so the twitching stops, it's driving me mad and I can't sleep because of it.

In total that would be 3000 a day.

Is that safe or would it cause me problems?

It would be perfectly safe SKYROCKET 123 . There has never been a case of overdosing even at much higher levels than you want to take. Very best wishes

Others will agree with this . Don’t forget to take a modest 400mg daily tablet , or a vitamin B complex tablet .

Thank you so much for your reply. The sublingual I take has B6 in but I think I need to find a good B complex too. I'm a bit worried that the anaesthetic has depleted my B12 (I read that was happening to people using those Nitrous Oxide canisters) and missing some days has really not helped. I barely slept the past few nights for the twitching in both hands and feet. I will go and do another jab right away! Thank goodness for this place and for you guys! 💜

If there was Nitrous Oxide ( laughing gas) in your anaesthetic , it will have depleted your Vitamin B12 - This is a well known side effect of Nitrous Oxide .

Sorry to read about you being ill. I do hope surgery went well.

I inject either once a day or twice a day. Along with others as Wedgewood has written.

I always go on symptoms. The only thing I have had as a consequence of ‘too much’ B12 is my urine looks rather illuminous. But I feel like a ‘human bean’.

Thank you so much Narwhal10. I've been healing nicely up to now. I can cope with illuminus urine 😀 I'd take that any day over the twitching! I just want to feel like myself again. 💜

meant to site to take a modest Folic acid/folate ( vitaminB9) 400 mg daily . I was in a rush to get out , and missed that detail —sorry !

No need the apologise, I really appreciate your advice. I don't post much but I've always valued the advice given here. I'm not being dramatic but without this place I don't think i'd still be here. 💜

Hi Skyrocket

Great advice - I often inject twice a day 1500 mg hydroxo if I need it. I also take 1300 mg methyl B12 from clean supplements and a sublingual B complex in water throughout the day by Metabolics but the latter is a new approach for me so early days.

Go for it and listen to the guys on here and your body - sounds like you are doing really well already managing your symptoms - folic acid is important too as is potassium and iron and vitamin D so keep an eye on the bigger picture too!

I personally no longer use up my B12. I found for me when I did use up my B12 the less time I was B12 depleted the sooner I replaced the less severe the return of the symptoms.

I have at times injected five times a day when doing a trial. I have found that three times a day is best for me is that for me is what is practical.

I like your happily managing term.

You can’t overdose on B12. Illness, injury, surgery can increase demands and symptoms. I wonder if they gave you nitrous oxide for the op?

Yes anesthesia can impact B12 negatively. I was shocked on labour wards when no one seemed to know or care. Then they wonder why women struggle so much with baby brain and exhaustion, depression, and all the other negatives, many of which preventable

B12 only works if you have enough folate - they work hand in hand. Hence increasing B12 means upping folate as well. I take 5 mg folic acid a day and can find no reliable evidence that this is harmful.

I started splitting my 1 ml dose to half in the a.m. and half in the p.m. I am the same if I don't inj. before bed I get muscle spams in my face, stomach, and legs. The half dose twice daily seems to work just as well as 1ml in the am and 1ml in the p.m. Occasionally I will start spasming mid-day if it is a hard day and will just take my dose early or take a larger dose at that point.

I also take a daily methy-folate.
