Hello everyone l am completely confused my Dr didn’t explain to me how intricate and complicated B12 is. I don’t understand all the jargon! Reading the posts I find it all difficult to keep up with. I thought getting the B12 injections would solve the issues that l’m having but instead I feel further down the rabbit hole!

Hello, on rhs is a 'pinned post' for Various B12D/PA resources. Suggest you look at that, it should help. There is a lot of information and links, but just pick out what you need. It will take time .
If not you need to explain in more detail what you want to know.
It's difficult i know with brain fog and iffy memory. Also a lot of us feel worse instead of better as we start to heal.
Hi and welcome Oopsy,
Fret not it took Dorothy Hodgkin (a chemist) and her team 12 years to work out vitamin B12.
So, ask for a copy of your blood results.
On the piece of paper is the date, so that’s when you were diagnosed with it.
Keep a symptoms tracker because all of us will have different ones.
It’s definitely worth joining the Pernicious Anaemia Society.. You will pick think up as you go along.
We are a mixed bunch on here with varied backgrounds so scientists, some of us like research but we all support each other as best we can. 😁🐳
Hi,
Two books that might be helpful.
"What You Need to Know About Pernicious Anaemia and Vitamin B12 Deficiency" by Martyn Hooper
Martyn Hooper is the former chair of PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society). I found the book easy to read. Some bits may need updating.
"Could it Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses" by Sally Pacholok and JJ. Stuart (USA authors)
Very comprehensive with lots of case studies.
Your local library service may have copies.
Two useful websites
PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society)
Based in Wales, UK.

There is a helpline number that PAS members can ring.
PAS membership is separate to membership of this forum.
B12 Info.com (also known as B12 Deficiency Info)
NHS link about B12 deficiency and Folate deficiency
easy to read

I am not medically trained.
Hi Ooopsy,I'm a former senior general nurse and tutor in dental nursing, so usually I can get my head round medical matters.
However, you're correct, B12 and its related issues eg. iron deficiency is a real minefield !
I learned as much as I needed to in order to convince my reluctant and ill informed GP that I probably had B12 deficiency.
Since then though, I've just had to concentrate my energy on regaining my health.
I have parents, both of whom have dementia, a 95 year old uncle who is almost immobile and an elderly greyhound .
Thankfully my husband and adult son are ( relatively 😉) self sufficient!
I just don't have the time or energy at the moment to swot up on the intricacies of B12.
I agree we have to take some responsibility for our own health, but sometimes just knowing the basics is enough .
I'd love to learn more and also contribute to this forum more regularly, but that's for the future.
The information is here if / when you decide to access it, but I wouldn't fret about having to become an expert.
Just concentrate on feeling better first 🙂
Wishing you good health and very best wishes xx
Me and my partner found this course invaluable Ooopsy, perhaps worth checking out?eventbrite.co.uk/e/69607383...
