GP Online Consultation parameters

Hi all,

Noticed several comments recently about the restrictions on 'characters' when completing an online Consultation form for GP.

I had the same problem when using our surgery online consultation request form last year - typed in my symptoms and concerns, pressed Enter to have the form refused for too many words - well, characters. Not only did the form get stopped in its tracks, but got deleted too, so no opportunity to edit.

I hit upon the idea of putting my request in a Word document (or similar programme, even Text Edit I think works), then do a Word Count in the Tools and it will give you a word count, or character count including the spaces. Then it gives you the chance to edit your request and hone it to the salient points and concerns. When you've done that, copy and paste into your online GP consultation form to send. Might save some time and headaches and swearing!

Hope that helps.

Have to be well to do that!

Very true, Nackapan, but worth considering if you can, might save some frustration with the forms. Am sure it is a ploy to get patients to give up submitting a request. 😠

Probably why I'm seeing queues outside surgeries like in times gone by . But the inside waiting area eerily empty. I've witnessed people trying to book an appointment in person who are turned away. .

Told to ring or online.

So ring on their mobile in front of them exasperated to demonstrate they can't get through or number 38 in queue!!

They are there in person as this has proved impossible??

Then security doors installed as people angry 😠

Hardly surprising.

A+ E being used as a Gp surgery.

Online is helpful but what isn't is when so many different I.t systems used within the same surgery .

Staff don't know what they are doing .

So much time staring at screens sorting out whats gone wrong.

I'm still waiting for notes to be removed from mine that anrnt my notes .

Now just a code on there and can't see the written entry

The code just is an entry of the notes they can see but I've been blocked from .

Hardly sorted !!

Ongoing .important !

Shoddy practice.

Record keeping is high on the agenda .

Plenty of mandatory training on that !!

It's set me off lol

I have also noticed long queues of very confused and frustrated people, and waiting rooms not only near-empty - but very few seats and dark !

That isn't creating an inviting atmosphere for reception staff or patients.
