Reversing out compared to using up B12.

The concept of topping off came to me from reading here. It was contrary to my understanding of loading then maintenance. My current understanding is my body at best does not store B12 very well or can not utilize the B12 that is stored. The results are the same.

Until proven otherwise the loading and maintenance theory has been disproved in my case to my satisfaction. This may change as my body heals which it does not when I do not have an adequate amount of supplementation.

I accept that people experience using up B12 and that topping off is a solution for them. It is undesirable for me personally.

Am not going to start pacing my life to avoid my life. Not the way I roll.

What uses up my B12 to the max is interpersonal relationships. Mostly the eustress. What is often seen a stress does not use up my B12 nor does physical activity unless I experience it over time. Even COVID does not use up my B12.

I thought I had achieved loading last January. February and March disproved that to me. I used up my B12 and February and March was recovery and not healing. It sucked.

It took two months of eustress, physical activity and stress to deplete my B12.

I experience reversing out differently than B12 depletion. They are very similar. The main difference is that with reversing out I heal rather than recover.

As I wrote it came to me that two 1/2 years ago when physicians were in charge I thought I was experiencing reversing out and I was experiencing B12 depletion between injections for 8 weeks and then depletion as I was on oral for two months.

Reality is I have only been on my current regimentation for 22 days +- and still want to increase my "Simple Spectrum" to the recommended amount. Before I make other changes. Oh bother.

I think you will find many people here who cannot manage on "maintenance" doses and continue loading doses indefinitely. (Me included).

I too feel depleted in social interactions. But covid did definitely give me low B12 symptoms. We are all different :) That's why with B12D , one really needs to go by symptoms.

I'm sorry you've been on a rollercoaster. Hopefully you're now on the right track, taking what you need. Best wishes for a quick reversal period and onto healing 💪

Thank you for the reply. We are all different for sure. Thing is there are reasons that we are all different that are not currently known.

I could manage on maintenance doses. I want to thrive.

It is very helpful to know I am not the only one although I accept I am unique just like everyone else. 😀

If you have PA then if you have any long term damage, no way that you will heal on maintenance doses (8 or 12 weeks). With b12 it only stays active for 24 hours, thus why NICE suggest EOD. Nerve repair takes AT LEAST 2 years - depending on age and length of deficiency maybe longer.

We are all different, my friend with PA has vastly different symptoms than I have. Physically i have healed like I did not believe was possible, but i suffer cognitively.
