Just to get b12 first before taking folic acid if deficient in that as well. Also to get a copy of your blood results.

Was Intrinsic factor antybody test done?

If in the UK expect loading doses of 6 over 2 weeks .

You may feel worse before better.

Hope it goes well

Are you or have you been vegetarian or vegan? Any idea why your B12 is low?

What are your symptoms?

hi , have to be honest my diet was pretty bad for a few months as I was ill on and of , also I don’t eat a lot of meat although not technically a vegetarian 👍

I have greatly improved it over the last week or so and I’m starting to improve already 😊

I was feeling absolutely exhausted all the time , my legs have a strange sensation, like a tingling. I break out in cold sweats just before having to lie down because I just couldn’t function, my vision is very blurry and the list goes on 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi Hazel

That is really great news as if you are improving through more B12 in your diet it may be that you are B12 deficient without having Pernicious Anaemia when B12 is simply not getting from food to body. This is my lay summary of a very complex condition so forgive me!

Focus on B12 and folate rich foods as B12 needs folate and it could be your iron is low too if not eating too much meat. If you don’t like to physically eat meat (and I do understand that) then look to some homemade soups from good quality meat - chicken soup is my favourite!

Best of luck with your recovery and 🤞 you are on the path to feeling better.
