hello there ,

first of all I want to say that I suffer from hypothyroidism which is autoimmune and it was very important to test me for my iron so I took whole iron panel . I have no clue what those results mean but could someone give me any insight or comments if iam in good range or too if range of them ? I have done this through Monitor my Health and they haven’t provided ranges ( I have emailed them and complained about it ) so here are results :

HB 138g/L

Ferritin 125ug/L

TSAT 44%

active b 12 97pmol/L

Folate. >20.0 ug/L

I really appriciate cause I don’t know what it means at all in thyroid patients .

Post the results on the thyroid forum. How annoying ranges not given.

Looking at measurements used do look 'in range '

Folate above range.

I asked about thst when mine above 2o

Told not a problem.

Did reduce my moderate folic acid dose though .

Scientist, not medic.

Giving results without reference ranges is poor practice. However, it seems to be a popular service by users, given the reviews on their website, however I can't say I'm impressed.

Finger prick samples are a poor relation to a decent venous sample too, and although they seem to have an efficient service in turnaround, their primary sample is almost certainly letting them [and you] down.

'You pays your money and takes your choice' but I can think of better ways of spending £49!

Good luck.

thanks for your reply but I found last sentence a bit rude -sorry . I didn’t know they didn’t provide reference ranges did I !? So please don’t comment like that if you don’t know what and how things has happened !

I apologise if I've offended you. You are entitled to a better service than this, at no extra cost to you. We all are. You are right to be offended, but the target ought to be someone else!

I spent over 40 years in 'the business' and we had tremendous issues with fingerprick samples. They were used as an absolute last resort for blood sampling due to a wide range of issues surrounding quality.

Of course, trying to get a result from the NHS in the traditional way requires access via a GP, and the results come back via that route.

Have you tried this approach to getting their reference intervals (ranges)?
