potassium level

I recently had bloodwork done. My sodium is at very bottom of range.( 135) it always has been. My potassium is 3.7 with a range of 3.5-5.5. I have tended to be around 4 or a tad higher. A year ago I was 3.8. I have been injecting every 3 weeks for a year and a half. Do I need more potassium? I know it is tricky (and can be dangerous to supplement) I can’t eat bananas. Any thoughts? Can I just monitor this? Thanks for any feedback.

You are in range. There are other potassium rich foods.

Coconut water.

Some use lo salt

Coconut water all has too much sugar in it for me. Is "in range" good enough? We have talked to much about being at the bottom of the range not necessarily meaning it is good for everyone. Thank you, Nackapan

Potatoes Sweet potatoes

Avocados

Potassium tricky as not wise to take a supplement unless a doctor deems it necessary

but lo salt an easy option.

I think 'in range ' for potassium and sodium fine.

I can't stand coconut water but if needs must woujd have it

We do need some sugar to balance electrolytes

Thanks, Nackapan. Is “lo salt” a brand w/potassium in it?

I do eat sugar but try to stay under 20-30 mg/day. (Preferably 20). I try to get it from veggies and a small amount of fruit. I eat little to no processed food which is where I think I might lose some electrolytes.

I am currently doing carnivore and am using Keto Chow Daily Minerals drops. There is a recommended dose but I just add about 15 drops to my coffee or water about 3 times per day. I also use a good salt. Redmond’s real salt is great. There are no additives to the drops so it’s very salty and bitter. I will say that I have never felt better and haven’t had an injection in almost a month. I can’t believe it! I’ve gone from 3 times per week to once a month for the last 2 months. No pain in my joints, no pins and needles in my arms and hands and no inflammation. A calmness like I’ve never felt before and steady energy. No dips. I can’t remember the last time I went from morning til night. There have been a few occasions where I absolutely had more carbs and sugar (birthdays) and I realize how much damage I’ve been doing to myself over the years by the way I feel the next day. Brutal. Sorry for the novel but I do recommend the drops. You can order them online.

Wonderful you've found something that helps you

Hey….I appreciate your time. Do you think the carnivore diet is helping you just as much or more than the mineral drops? So many people feel better on carnivore. I do not do well on it. I have gastroparesis and don’t digest protein well.

How amazing it must feel to suddenly feel so much better!

I will investigate these mineral drops. I drink reverse osmosis water and I am likely lacking minerals. I use Redmonds salt but I don’t tolerate too much salt so I know I am barely sufficient. Redmonds is tricky because the label doesn’t really identify how much of each mineral is in it.

Thanks again.

Definitley the diet. I had a hard time the first 2 weeks. It gets better. All of the damage that is done over the years by sugar and the sensitivities that so many veggies and fruits cause people is unreal. I didn’t believe it. I am now starting to add things in one at a time and doing more research. This way I know what foods my body doesn’t tolerate. You may be taking in too much protein. There is a fine balance, I find anyway, especially when it comes to fats for me. Diet wise you need to listen to your body. Potassium wise, I needed the potassium and phosphorus in the beginning. Once I started injections more often things started to get better.l and then I found I didn’t need to supplement the potassium anymore. Now I find a tiny pinch of Redmond’s, is all I need in my water first thing in the morning.

I wanted to mention that if you are drinking reverse osmosis water then the drops will definitely be something you want to add. I drink distilled and the number I add isn’t anywhere near enough to overdo it. I’m not sure if this is something you are interested in but I have also gone to have live blood analysis done. There is always a reason for our symptoms and maybe it can help. I only wish I found it 5 years ago. I’m not sure where you live but I maybe asking Jillian a few questions would help. Many of her patients are battling cancer and many are not. It’s more for getting to the bottom of what is causing symptoms. Feel free to private message me if interested. Good luck 😊

Bananas are very overrated for potassium but have the advantage of convenience. Legumes, like beans and lentils, are a much better source. You can buy them canned (without salt hopefully - ready to use). Also Spinach and Avocado.

Your potassium is in the normal range and I wouldnt read anything into a variation of 0.1 between 2 readings a year apart. I wouldnt worry about your potassium level but is always good to get more potassium in your diet (from food) anyway.
