I’ve just had bloods and my folate came back as low but my b12 was 999. My white blood count was also high along with neutrophils monocytes eoisenophils and lymphocytes. I have to get retested in two weeks but has anyone else experienced this? I’ve been put on 5mg daily of iron for 4 months but could the low folate explain the high b12 and abnormal wbc? Sat here worried sick it could be something serious

b12=999 but low folate
Hello, I presume since your B12 is 999 that you are supplementing B12 with periodic injections? Regarding Folate, I too had low folate and I started supplementing with a sublingual methylcobalamin plus folate primarily for the folate as I am also injecting MethylB12 bi-weekly.
You mention that you are taking 5mg iron daily. What are your serum Ferritin levels? The reason that I ask is that with PA/AMAG it is highly likely that you may have an iron malabsorption issue. You can watch this Ferritin drop over time in your blood test results assuming they are checking that periodically. If you're having trouble absorbing iron through normal digestion then the only way you will be able to get iron into your system is through an iron infusion IV. I happen to have been through all this with PA/AMAG/Achlorhydria my Ferritin levels dropped to nothing and I now am tested every three months and get periodic iron infusions. Before that I too was always tired/fatigued and my B12 levels are maxed at >2,000 pg/mL.
Best wishes, Rex
