hhas anyone felt like they have been hit by a bus after the first shot of loading dose. I feel so I'll and my whole.bidy feels like lead. Feel like I need to sleep for a week. Almost feel like I got flu! Is this normal? Don't want to not go for my next one I rang the pharmacist and they said it's NOT normal. Can't see it listed but just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and whether it happened after every shot and how long did it last. Thanks

I went through the same in late August and September, it takes time. I felt like i had poison in my body and i should be in hospital. It will get better, took about 6 weeks for the flu like feeling to leave me and i took comfort from the fact that many others on here said it can get worse before it gets better, hang in there and think of it as a long haul journey and not a short trip to full health and well being.

ddid you feel the same way? It's horrible literally have to crawl on my hands and knees to kitchen to get a drink. Also getting twinges in my thigh muscle. Which is bloody annoying and painful

Yes it's horrible, so many symptoms with this are. You will get get better, it is not an easy journey, i am just over 3 months in to my own journey and am learning so much from all the posts and i try to think like Capt. Tom " Tommorow will be a better day"

Yep. I could barely walk after my first injection, from being able to stroll down to the shop the day before in 5 mins, after the injection the same journey took me 20 mins, inching down the street like a 95 year old, I literally couldnt get my legs to move any faster, it was quite embarassing actually as people give you a good look when you walk like that LOL. Physical strength improved gradually but it took weeks/months. Still have bad constant muscle ache nearly a year on and still very poor strength compared to a year before.

"The pharmacist said its not normal". Not to be unkind to them but the pharmacist probably doesnt have exposure to the same amount of reactions to B12 treatment that we have on this forum. You can read many many forum posts here where people experienced worsening of symptoms and new symptoms after treatment began. I can't say I felt clear improvement in most areas until about 5 months in - some things got better but others got worse or new symptoms developed - horrendous electric shock nerve pains, nausea, all kinds of new and interesting pains, headache, continuous pins and needles, new numbness and muscle weakness, etc etc. This is known to B12 treatment specialists and B12 Institute NL call it "early treatment decline". It is not fully understood but some believe its part of process of nerves waking up. For the nerve pains and pins and needles that made sense to me so I wasnt as worried about them but I suspect more is going on too as I didnt expect increased muscle weakness and muscle aches and still don't quite understand why this happened.

oots frightening to be honesthonest. You just expect the usual side effects of headache arm pain etc but literally I was sat having a cup of decaf tea ( treated myself) as I felt brave for going through with my injection, I have a needle phobia. Then bam just hit me like a bus. feel drunk with flu is only way I can describe it. Can see I will be sleeping a lot for foreseeable.

Yes my body was leaden. And I got worse before any improvements I was also told 'not normal'

Waking up nerves csn be painful.

They also triggered headaches snc migraines.

To date nothing else been found.

I persevered and improvements gradually stated to happen.

Yes!!

I talked to my GP, referred them to the PAS website to explain it can affect people like you describe.

I chose to slow down my loading doses to two a week. Good news is dose 5 was like a sleepy hug!

Hang in there.
