hii all so I've just had my last b12 jab last week. I could fel I needed it.corners of mu mouth stinging , tiredness, that funny being on a boat sensation and just feeling rubbish.but now I still have that being on a boat feeling and the inner lids of my eyes have gone very pale again and a tinge of yellow.i had forograd c last year for 5 months then had my levels check they had gone from 21 to 70 so I was told to stop.due to being vegetarian I don't have as much iron as what I need, I have a week's worth of forograd c left.do you think I would be able to take it and maybe lift me up again. I don't know if iron levels drop again in a similar way to b12 but over a longer period of time? ?

I need an iron maintenance now otherwise my ferritin level drops then hb.

I've never needed iron before.

I get regular blood tests as on iron.

Are you keeping up b12 injections.?

Was it thd last loading dose?

Hii no I have a b12 every 10 weeks. My iron was low and I was taking feroglobin supplement from Holland and barret and it was only 21. So the Dr was happy to leave it until I told him to look into the fact I was taking a supplement at the time. Then was put on ferrous fumarate for 5 months (ferrograd c) and then no one called to check or tell me to stop so I chased it up and had a test done after about 10 weeks of being off it and it had gone to 70 that was last November and havnt taken anything since. Just wondering if I could do 1 a day for a week just as a top up/ booster.

Also I had my ferritin checked in February and was told it was OK. I didn't get a print out of the results which I know I should have done.

You can still get a copy of your results on paper or on an app.

I decided on the maintenence dose of iron in the end as didn't want the seesaw of iron levels. My ferritin dropped to 29 ug/which gave me extra symptoms.

On 'my regime' its around 40-60ug/L which seems fine for me.

I only had one level of ferritin on record which was 61ug/L

So I use that as my guide as we all function at different levels and iron looked at as a whole.

The symptoms I attributed to low ferritin were

Restless legs at night

Shaking

Breathless

Hair loss / thinning / itchy dry school

Not sure if a little dizzy as was very unsteady at tge time.

I had to raise it to discuss with Gp as I'd read below 50 ug/L can give symptoms

I did run it by the Gp .

They said okay to do but to have a blood test in 3-4 months .

My levels have kept steady and now getting a blood test 6 monthly.

I also use spartone a low dose 5mg.

The multivit has 14mg

Solar gentle iron 20mg

Ferrous fumarate 210mg ( 2x a week now.

I alternate with the above .

My mum uses the liquid from Holland and Barrettdaiky as you have . Has done for years .

Like you I was suprrised no follow up when initially prescribed daily ferrous fumarate 210mg.afyer the first 3 month blood test and unsure what to do.

Also put in a letter to state what I am taking supplement wise.

When on a telephone consult I asked if my iron okay.

The Gp was unaware I was taking supplements ?? And said it was fine and to continue to do what I was doing

Considering too much is bad for you I thought like you it would be monitored automatically.

I request the blood test every time!!

After being told initially I levels should be checked.

Hope that helps.

The days of just being told what to do seemingly gone .

My last ferrous fumarate 210 was not on my prescription.

I chased it to be told ' new rule'

Buy it myself over the counter!

I disputed this as want it on my notes so a blood test is not refused !!
