So after months of being very ill I found out my B12 level was 140. I feel it was probably slowly declining for a very long time. This was 2 years ago. I self inject about every 9 days. I am so much better than I was but not 100 percent. I believe I may be suffering from Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. My lingering symptoms seem to fit this condition. I believe the low B12 for a long time is what set this off in the first place. Just wondering if anyone has any insight or experience with this.
Thank you

My first ever b12 done after vertigo snd inability to walk. 106
I'm left with a debilitating vestibular disturbance .
No experience with this, apart from general dizziness from time to time as part of recovery.
The condition you reference seems to relate to a problem with the inner ear. And if it is a consequence of b12d, I feel it's very unlikely any Dr would make the link. In my experience, mentioning b12 makes most doctors angry, defensive and uncomfortable.
So, if it is the condition is what you think it is, you could make a separate appointment for them to investigate the dizziness and if they investigate your ear and check for vertigo then you'll know if its what you think it is.
Otherwise keep injecting and getting your vitamins in.
If you think it is BPPV you need to get the Epley manoeuvre done, it’s a series of changes in head positions performed at speed to try to reposition the otoliths which can become displaced in the semi circular canals. I have done some training in this. You can see a practitioner- check they have some experience in this or try going on you tube and performing it yourself! You can feel dizzy going through the stages but will feel better after if that is the cause of your dizziness.
I had BPPV once, pre b12, and it was terrible - my head was constantly spinning, nystagmus, nauseous... i couldn't move my head in certain positions else it would all start up. I couldn't walk at all let alone work. Thought I was having a stroke. This was nothing at all like the dizziness and vertigo I had with B12D. After the epley maneuver and doing it at home it took a week to get better, they say the loose crystal has to be absorbed.
I'm not medically trained but I would say that if it didn't come on suddenly, isn't positional, and isn't 10x worse than typical symptoms, it may just be residual b12 deficiency symptoms for which you need continued alternate day injections.
Interesting. Like jkiron said maybe the fall dislodged the crystals.
I hope you don't get the migraines again. Small world Good luck with it Nackapan!
My first bppv was 3 years before b12d but i woke up with it, no falls that i remember. A few times after starting b12 i woke up a few times with a very mild version... i lay very still in bed for a few hours and seemed to have fixed it. Not happened again the last few years. I sometime sleep with ear plugs, maybe from that?
I have BPPV and PA -- but they're not related. You should see a neurologist to have the vertigo formally diagnosed. They can do several different maneuvers to clear the crystal(s) in your inner ear. But you also must see a vestibular physiotherapist if you do have BPPV, as they can give you numerous exercises to retrain your brain and end the dizziness and balance issues after several months. I've had several vertigo attacks -- the first was the worst that brought me into the ER, subsequent ones have been less severe but best checked out by the neurologist to rule out stroke. Good luck!
A fall or whiplash can bring on BPPV as the crystals can become dislodged, so if you fell from weakness due to PA then the fall could have then caused the BPPV at the same time. Hope you don't have it again!
