Confused, again

So had bloods repeated on NHS. All except 4 came back, on my GP no reference ranges. Got print outs and have been checking every day for missing results. Just now found 2 more on my GP. , had been waiting on T3 vit D and IFA and TTG (coeliac). One says intrinsic factor ab screen test but no numbers/result, the other new one says Tissu transglutaminase IgA lev 0.5u/ml . Is the second one TTG and what does this result mean. Thanks

I really despair that blood tests are done but results not explained.

I don't understand why ranges are not on your print out.

They do come in at different times.

Sorry I can't answer your question

No follow up usually means...no action.

Can't assume anything though.

A few results of mine 'deemed normal' were not for me.

Namely vit D

And ferritin which I questioned with Gp and supplement.

Even vitamin B12 wasn't considered 'that low'

Was 100 under bottom 'in range' figure ???

I realise 7 yesrs training will surely have a trained eye to look at blood results but more information to patients please.

Sorry you're still getting the runaround. You really need the full report with ranges before anyone can say anything sensible. Looks like a strongly worded letter might be in order. The results are legally yours as you know. As Nackapan said it may take a few days to get all results in.

Way back in early 2016, when my GP was testing anything she could think of and I was too ill to ask, I had an anti-tissue transglutanase test - which was considered "normal-no action" at 0.2 u/mL - with a range given of 0.00 - 7.00u/mL.

I have had intrinsic factor antibody tests (IFab) - probably three (?) in all - and all were "negative".

The results of this test usually are expressed as either "positive" or "negative" - although those with pernicious anaemia are only around 50% likely to get a positive result.

I was found to have osteoporosis of the spine and osteopenia of the neck so given vitamin D as part of the treatment - so I would say really important to get results through.

I have been very lucky in that my GP was very proactive and supportive, so I had all my consultants appointments and tests etc via the NHS. She always printed out a copy of blood test results for me too.

The only private test I've had is a full thyroid test - postal blood test with results online. This is because NHS usually only do TSH and FT4 for thyroid function testing - and I wanted those plus thyroid antibody tests : anti-TPO and anti-TG. I think that was six tests for £60 which sounded reasonable. Three of my immediate family now have Grave's disease, so this was really just to set my mind at ease.

I have no medical knowledge or training, so can only relate my personal experiences in the hope that they are helpful.

Perhaps you could contact your GP surgery and ask how to get the ref ranges.

Should be info about coeliac disease in links below.

NICE guidelines Coeliac Disease

Coeliac UK website

coeliac.org.uk/home/

"Tissu transglutaminase IgA lev 0.5u/ml "

This test is sometimes written as tTG IgA .

if they are testing for coeliac I would have expected them to

1) also test Total IgA which checks who has IgA deficiency

2) ask you to eat plenty of gluten in more than one meal per day for several weeks before blood tested

A person with coeliac disease can get a negative result if they

1) have IgA deficiency

2) weren't eating enough gluten before test

Some of the info will be specific to UK.
