Pain and numbness in fingers

Hello all

I'd like to Thank everyone on this forum for saving my life. Diagnosed 2 yrs ago with B12 Def and felt as if I were dying. My GP did prescribe monthly injections which were insufficient. I took advice from this forum and ordered my own supplies and began to si weekly. I have begun to feel almost normal. I'm seeking advice on increasing my injection due to continuing pain and numbness in my fingers. I've had this for awhile but it seems to have worsened. Any advice is appreciated.

The only way is to try a different regime the see if any improvements .When i change frequency I tend to fo it for a while as effects are not immediate.

Perhaps try every 5 days?.

Some go back to every other day fir a period.

Good to hear you've recovered so well.

Only you know if it's a 'old' symptom returning.

I have to remind myself not every ailment is b12 deficiency related.

Hi Nan321,

It is worth increasing the frequency. Some of us noted that cold weather appears to have an affect on needing more B12. But as Nackapan said worth seeing primary carer to check if it is unrelated.

Best wishes

Sadly, I have to accept the fact that the damage /numbness to my left index finger is permanent. It's been 6 years now. Just getting over a massive infection caused by covid booster in my usual B12 spot. Haven't been game to give myself my B12. But the pain in my fingers and now my toes is at a stage of sleep loss. So there we go..... another symptom. Yay me/us.

Just do what you know feels right for you.

Feel better soon, that's a heartfelt, feel better soon.

Have you checked ferritin or done other bloodwork. Are you taking methyl folate, b complex, vitamin D3 k2 and Omega 3 as well? These micronutrients also work together. Try more fatty foods. Like chicken thighs and also more vegetables. Sometimes deficiency of B12 causes other hidden deficiencies

Thank you for your response. I do take D3 and omega 3 daily and will have GP check my levels.

Hi,

I wondered if your iron and folate levels have been checked recently.

Folate deficiency can cause symptoms of neuropathy as can B12 deficiency in some cases.

Two useful B12 books

(folate and B12 deficiencies are discussed)

Martyn Hooper is the chair of PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society).

"Could it Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses" by Sally Pacholok and JJ. Stuart (US authors)

Very comprehensive with lots of case studies.
