My symptoms was started to develop fast because Cyanocobalamin didn't work for me and I was in agonizing situation I couldn't stand on my feet and my pain was unbearable. then I found my Ferritin is low and helped a lot after taking that but my weakness was phenomenal and extreme weakness along with severe pain developed so fast. Then I started to take b12 timed release in high doses and helped me so fast but not completely and still is helping me to get rid of those newly showed up symptoms but very severe. I feel much better but too much heat I feel and also I'm so impatience and can't sleep whole night and in the morning in pain and weakness I have to go out for long walk. Everyday my newly symptoms getting improved but my body is like hell hot. I ordered my first Hydroxocobalamin and I hope to get as fast as possible then I will switch to that. I have no idea how long it takes to improve my nerve damage but my impatience and pain has ruined my life. Do you think b12 timed release can recover nerve damage or just energize body? I think i helped a lot but I couldn't find any sources to confirm that.

Hello Hamayeshguy I am sorry to hear of your symptoms you are suffering , let me first start with... you are not alone.

I'll need a little more information before I'll be able to help.

Have you seen a GP

If so has the GP diagnosed you with pernicious anaemia.

Are you getting injections from your practitioner.

Have you been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.

Having pernicious anaemia can cause our body's to get a little confused with feeling hot or cold. But also if you have been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy this is very Common to feel heat, but only certain parts of your body.

There is numerous amounts of medication that can help. Via your GP/ Pain management team.

If you are a women. Could the heat you're feeling possibly be the menopause.

I have peripheral neuropathy as well as pernicious anaemia.. after I started taking control of my own b12 injections ( as GPS only gave me 1 injection every 3 months) my PN significantly improved. Hardly notice I have it now.

I find that I need to self inject every week and if I am going out to do a lot more in a day then usual I will get myself a extra injection

I hope this helps and that you have seen a GP

No officially I'm not diagnosed with pernicious aneamia, but in 2014 I was diagnosed with low b12 and doctor wanted me to have monthly shot of cyanocobalamin. Unfortunatley I didn't have easy life in the last couple of years and I think all of severe physical and mental stress depleted my b12. Then my symptoms started to show up and finally in 2020 september I experienced megalobalistic aneamia. I visited many doctors but in my blood work nothing was wrong since before test I had b12 injection and also my ferritin was minimum normal. But by taking b12 and couple of b12 shots my aneamia symptoms improved but gradually new symptoms started. I was on pills for seven months then I started to self inject b12 cyanocoblamin and my symptoms got worsen after eight months then I started to take timed release b12 methylcoblamain in high dose and it helped me so fast to improve my symptoms. I have done nerve electrical conductivity test with norologist and it was normal and he told me its a general thing. In that time I didn't have that much pain and numbness and severe muscle weakness, I found my ferritin is low and raised my ferritin and lots of pain and weakness improved then started to take b12 timed release methylcobalamin and I found it is more helpful than cyanocobalamin. Actually cyanocobalamin doesn't work at all for me. I forgot to tell that since 2014 until 2020 September I didn't take any b12. Anyways I found that the only way to get healed is to inject hydroxocobalamin every other day. Now I bought it and waiting for my syringes. I'm so impatient due to my severe symptoms. And also double vision and blurry vision. I have to much irritibility problem. I visited psychologist and given medication but I found SSRIs have intercation with NSAIDs pain killers and cause gut bleeding thats why I didn't take it. I have no idea what to do but even pain killers doesn't work. I don't know for how long I have to tolerate this pain, numbness and extreme weakness. In the meantime I found that if ferritin happens to be low, MCV shows normal. Doctors I have visited they don't have any information regarding this neurological symptoms problem due to pernicous aneamia and they didn't even ask for proper test before injection like methylmalonic acid and hemocystien test and IFab test.

I have no idea whats wrong but I don't see any other choice except to inject hydroxocobal amin as much as I can. But my tolerance for injection is also so low and it takes time to get better. Lonliness is another factor and I have decided to join my family in far far away country and in this pain I have no idea how long I can stay on flight.

Hamayeshguy,

Do you think it is nerve pain you are suffering from ?

My partner was in severe nerve pain, christmas eve was given amitriptyline, now sleeping better, pain manageable but still unable to walk.

Being lonely is a major problem, and I can understand how you feel, even a telephone call from someone can lift the mood.

Hi,No experience of timed release B12. I loaded up with 6 shots of hydroxyocobalamin one every 2 days then went onto monthly shots. I improved but not brilliantly. I now take one injection a week and symptoms improved after 6 months. You probably have to experiment on the frequency that suits you.

Hi hamayeshguy,I can understand what you are going through, for months your muscles haven't had the vitamins and minerals etc they need to function. Now you are trying to exercise your muscles haven't caught up to the strength they were before. The sweating hot feeling is no different to someone going to the gym, they get hot sweaty. The more gentle exercise you do the more the muscles will regain there strength and eventually you will be able to do more and more without having the hot flushes.. if that makes sense.

The damage done is repairing, the impatience you are experiencing is natural.... we all want to go back to what we were instantly unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

Just remember when fully recovered you are not cured and you must carry on supplementing B12 and keep checking on you iron levels.

Merry christmas .
