How low do you go before your next injection?

Has anyone had their B12 retested just before their next injection is due to see how low their B12 levels have dropped? If so, what was your level?

My levels are always off the scale because i inject weekly . I never want any symptoms to return . I had such a terrible time with symptoms when i was only allowed one injection every 3 months . My burning feet are a constant reminder of that nightmarish time It’s great to know that one cannot overdose . Blood levels of B12 are not the important factor . Symptoms are . Keep them at bay with injections at a regularity that does this .

recently finished my 6 shots, felt so much better but after 1 month I feel like dead dog now, next top up shot is nearly 2 months away :(

That’s exactly what happened to me ! I tried and tried to get more regular injections , but my doctor would not budge . I reluctantly had to turn to self-injecting .This was 6 years ago, and I hoped that the medical profession would have seen the light by now . But do tell your doctor that you cannot wait that long -your symptoms are returning .

Do you want to inject Intramuscularly ( I,M,) as they do b12 injections in the surgery , or subcutaneously ( sub-cut) which is just into the fatty layer of the tummy or the thigh .? Needles , syringes , swabs and yellow sharps disposal boxes can be obtained from medisave.co.uk

For sub-cut choose 30G x 1/2 inch needles , for I.M. choose 25G x 1 inch . I use 2ml syringes for a 1ml ampoule , because that gets every bit of precious B12 out of the ampoule .

The best bet is .. versandapo.de you can pay with paypal and bank transfer not cards . If you can only pay with card , I’ll send you other sources

Yes of course . I ordered ampoules on Tuesday and they arrived at 9.30 this morning if you want best value chose Panpharma B12 depot .These are Hydroxocobalamin b12 which is what the NHS USES. Use the reference no 16199653 to go straight to the ampoules . They are 1mg x 1ml Courier costs €9.00 no matter how many you buy .

Same! I wrote a nice letter to my doctor asking them to up the frequency and they agreed to every two months instead of three. I’m going for that!

What were your symptoms?

Exhaustion , breathlessness, confusion ,dizziness, palpitations every now and then , and numb feet . But there are many others .

Thanks for that. We have not had an injection for almost 2 yrs, only tablets, which are no good. We had been having injections every 3mts, doc wouldn’t bring forward. My mother had PA all her life, my daughter and granddaughter get injections in another town every 8 weeks! Having said that, WE NEVER felt any differently at all after the injections, my daughter fought to get hers every 8 weeks because she absolutely needed it, and felt the difference. We never did. I am trying to get a private consultation with a Haematologist, but none available where we live, will have to travel but not too far. I think it’s the only answer, NHS won’t entertain it. My husband is sleeping his life away, shaky on his feet and forgetful, I’m convinced his body is not absorbing B12. rather than getting old. But trying to establish that fact is proving impossible!!!

I consulted a private haematologist —ANSOLUTELY HOPELESS ! I knew more than he did . Also said that he wasn’t really interested in PA!!! I couldn’t believe my ears !!!

Generally the medical profession prefer to prescribe pharmaceutical drugs , not vitamins . I’ll leave you to think why that is .I turned to self injecting to save myself. I reckoned that the whole cost of an injection , including ampoule, syringe and needle is about £1.30 . That’s tremendous value . Mind you it took a lot for me to do the first injection . I was shaking like a leaf . Never thought i’d manage it . 6 years on , I don’t turn a hair ! Could you consider it ? I cannot tell you how it’s really saved my life . If you want information, just ask .

How often do you inject? Do you not feel fatigued anymore. Can’t believe that Haematologist spoke to you like that. Are they afraid they might cure a lot of other problems!!!!!

I inject once a week . Have done for 6 years now .It keeps all symptoms at bay , except for ones that are reversible, because I had had symptoms for many years ( GP .diagnosed my feet as I“Idiopathic “

After self injecting, my numb feet improved into burning feet ( not to the touch ) And there they stay…

I get an injection every month but I also go on the symptoms. If they start appear earlier then I might move up the date a bit. In the beginning (I have been taking injections for 6 years now) I would also check my blood level just after and before the shot and levels would be at 3000 just after and go down to 100 something just before.I did this exactly to confirm that one month was ok for me and it has been ever since, give a few days.
