Hashimotos & Pernicious Anaemia often go together and I've found managing both can be tricky especially with each condition having similar symptoms.Do you supplement folic acid and have you had your iron levels checked? I self inject too but find low folate & Ferritin levels can also be the cause of my breathlessness.
Please get breathlessness checked out. I ended up in ITU cos I second guessed breathlessness. I blamed PA, PsA, extreme heat (very unScottish weather) and being overweight. In fact I blamed old Uncle Tom Cobbley and all. What I had were several blood clots in each of my lungs which I had left for so long I’m lucky to still be here. I’m working on the second guessing but having several auto immune conditions that I almost automatically think it’s a new symptom of an existing problem ☹️ c
I Am on a thyroid roller coaster also have been updating testing ,I'll have a good day here and there and I usually over do it ,I do supplement folate and other coenzyme b complex was told I probably have hemochromatosis years ago can't supplement iron supplement but do try to eat iron rich foods and vit c and keep an eye on results I personally think it's been pa all along I'm getting a thyroid ultrasound soon and seeing haematologist ,probably won't help anything because regular medicine here doesn't treat anything unless you are dying ,also my osteopath retired so I'm on waiting list for a new dr ,fingers crossed ,so one step at a time my heart has been offended with everything my ecgwas the same as 2012 So one step at a time with texting the way they do it in medicine here these days a lot has changed with our healthcare system here if I didn't advocate for myself I'd be in a nursing home by now . I am also an amputee below the knee so the crazy nerve pain can be rough at times the b12 helps a lot .
I am sorry that you had to go through that! Breathlessness is something that I struggle with as well. Do you mind if I ask how long you had those symptoms before you found out it was blood clots? Did you have any other symptoms? What tests did they do?
I had been struggling for maybe three or four weeks. I was sweating profusely but it was very hot but thinking back, even abroad it’s not normal for your hair to be soaked with sweat. When I arrived in the ED, it seemed to me that the they were thinking along the lines of a heart attack. I was on a heart monitor, constantly having my blood pressure checked, and had blood tests taken almost immediately. Something in my blood showed that there was a clotting problem. I was moved to the respiratory ward where a Cat Scan (with dye) showed the clots in my lung. I am cutting a long story short really. My blood oxygen levels remained in the low 80’s for maybe three days until with help it began to rise. I’m used to feeling unwell as I gave multiple auto immune conditions but this episode has shown me that it’s to soldier on us not always the wisest choice.
