Further to my last post on being told by nurse it was illegal to give jabs more than 8 weekly I duly turned up for my jab a week later than I should have had it. Low and behold she had done her own research and apologised for just accepting GPs word on it, we discussed my need for more frequent jabs and I came away with a sharps box which was my biggest obstacle in si. Just have to get the rest together now and be brave. Thank you for your replies on the last post and the links, even though they weren’t needed in the end it was good that I knew for definite the GPs are wrong. 😊

Good. At least tge nurse bothered ti read up.I just bought a sharps box for £1.70 from a supermarket pharmacy.
Needles from medusave
Hooe youbsee improvements
Thank you I’m sure I will. It was more a case of where to take it than getting it, at least now I can return it to the surgery
Oh thats good Yes areas differ.
Sone chemists take them
Here the council collect if you ring abd leave it out.
My husband for yesrs was told to use an empty plastic bottle with a screw top and put in the normal bin?
Our surgery wouldnt take them.
I even tried taking them to work.
A locked huge clinical waste bin in the carpark I had the key for.
No one knew if 'allowed' so stopped popping it in with the rest.
Trying to do the right thing at times just brings you problems it seems.
Anyway you sorted for now .
Brilliant.
Clinical waste should NEVER be placed in with household waste. Local authorities have a legal requirement to collect clinical waste and I know they all do so.
When I worked in the local pub I found a needle in the toilet. No one from the police to the local chemist would take it
Yes.
I'm aware of that.
The needles were clipped off with a device that held them.
I woukd still term as clinical waste
The Council didn't.
So did what we were told .
Hence trying g to do the right thing and add to clinical waste bins.
At the time all you csn do is ask the appropriate bodies.and follow instructions.
Nappies/ sanitary towers/ incontinence pads blood stained plasters were classed as clinical waste in hospital !!
They all go in domestic bins ??
I did state I have a sharps box that IS collected by the council.
If you google your area, there should be a list of chemists who will take sharps box when full. Mine begrudgingly take mine although they do treat me like a drug user.
