Has anyone experienced any liver issues with high amounts of injected B12? I have been experiencing pain/odd pressure in the area of my liver. It’s been on and off for a couple days.
Im not sure about the sources involved in this article. It references 'drugs.com' which is am article that makes absolutely no reference to liver damage.
ctadds1 - the article seems to me to be at best misleading in the way it presents information.a) B12 as administered to patients with B12 deficiency isn't injected directly into the blood - unless it is being used to treat cyanide poisoning in which case the issue is the volume of fluid and risks of hypertension rather than the B12 itself,
b) high serum B12 is associated with kidney and liver problems because kidney problems prevent excess B12 being removed so it builds up in the blood and liver problems can cause the liver to dump its stores of B12 raising serum B12 levels. The raised B12 levels are the result of the liver and kidney problems not the causes.
c) I have no idea where the reference to blood clots comes from.
The article quotes no references to support the claims other than the list of reported side effects coming from the use of cyanocobalamin - almost all of which don't give any guide as to frequency with which they have been reported or occurred.
I would get the pain checked out if possible. I have aches everywhere more so when b12 it's due it seems rather thsn from it.
In the early days it did trigger headaches and bad tinnitus and an array of other things.
I've Increased to every 5-6th days for over a year now.
Ive read that before.
It's alarming
Couldnt find a date or references though
I supposes only way to tell is decreasing if you are unsure??
Are you taking other supplements?
More likely to he something else.
That could be a number of things and I have experienced it before and occasionally still do. The pain could be connected to your biliary tree so it’s worth getting it checked. It could also be IBS related as the area is close to your intestines.
"In liver diseases such as acute hepatitis, live cirrhosis and liver cancer, elevated B12 values are often found because the liver is no longer capable of storing vitamin B12."
Are you sure it's the liver? (I'm probably stupid, but it's happened several times that I wondered if my liver was hurting and in hindight it's always my intestine)
Could be h. pylori. I had constant pain in the upper right quadrant and it ended up being h. pylori AND an issue with my gallbladder. Thus an upper endoscopy (for h pylori) and HIDA scan to check the ejection fraction of the gallbladder. sometimes they do ultrasound of gallbladder too. Typical gallbladder issues are caused from stones, but I did not have any. I think it just died, maybe genetics or maybe too low of fat for too long. That was 8 years ago. I started b12 injections this year and have been doing them for months and do not have any abdominal or upper right quadrant (liver/gallbladder area) pain from it.
Very mich doibt its anthing to do with yoir b12 jabs My poan on that area turned oit to be gall stones which were removed and it sorted it. Id go to your GP amd get checked out.
