Any tips for a quick brain boost?

Has anyone found anything that helps on those days when the brain fog is so bad you feel like your head is literally full of cotton wool and you can't work through it? I've wasted most of today when I have tons of work to do just staring at my computer screen getting nothing done, the work I'm trying to do isn't hard at all but my brain just isn't there today. Will be self injecting on Thursday and trying not to do it sooner because I can't order anymore at the minute.

Had a sublingual b12 this morning which made no difference and I'm taking iron and Folic acid daily. Been drinking caffeine to keep the sleepiness at bay just need something to defog me enough to function!

I’m afraid I cannot think of anything , except a jab of B-12 . You should really be having your B-12 injections at a regularity that keeps all symptoms of B-12 deficiency at bay . I saw that no one had answered you, so I felt I wanted to say something to help, but I honestly cannot think of anything, knowing that it’s obvious that you need an injection . It is so awful to feel as you are at the moment . So awful that you can’t order any B-12 ampoules at the moment . I really feel helpless that I haven’t helped you at all . Sympathy just won’t cut it . But very best wishes.

Thank you it means a lot that you took the time to reply, I thought that would be the answer to be honest but worth a try asking! I still have 4 or 5 ampoules left and have almost managed an order from Germany but haven't managed to send payment yet so hopefully will have some more soon. I only si every 8 weeks so that I can have a jab every 4 weeks with si and jabs from the doctors so what I have will last a few months I just seem to be struggling a bit earlier this month might do it tomorrow it will only be a couple of days early

If you are trying to get ampoules from bodfeld-apotheke.de they only take payment by Bank transfer , which is simple if you have mobile or online banking . Otherwise try apotheke-marienbrunn.de They have Rotexmedica b12 depot in stock They deliver to U.K. BUT ,to find the U.K. to put in your address , you need to look for “” Vereinigtes Königreich Großbritannien und Nord Irland “ ( United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland ) It is the last country but one on the drop-down list , above Zypern

( Cyprus ) They don’t display the photo of Rotexmedica packet , but don’t let that put you off ! They have the right stuff

When you get your next supply can you si more regularly? I usually do alternate days. I'm a day late at mo and feel dreadfully wooly headed. Mind you hot weather and humidity don't help either. You could vary how long you go between jabs dependent on how you feel?

To be honest I'm such a wimp about si, I have no issue with the nurses doing it but can't do it myself so my husband kindly does it but I still get really nervous every time so try keep it to a minimum first time he did it I fainted so think I have a bit of a mental block about it now 😂. I've stupidly had a couple of drinks in the sun over the last couple of weeks so think that has probably made me lower I normally avoid alcohol unless it's right before my jab.

Ah, that's a bit of a problem then. I have to muster up the courage (normally have a little swear - ****it!) then jab before I lose the bravado. I don't know the answer to that, maybe someone here could suggest something? I'm motivated by knowing I feel better with the B12 but that's not always enough. Where to you inject? I do mine in my thigh. Lots to aim for. lol

I agree. I have tried everything and the one thing that worked was increasing the frequency of injections.

Sublinguals would make no difference to me also. The only thing that helps me is a B12 injection.

Aww Clare I really hope you manage to order some more ampoules. Have you tried asking your GP for more frequent onjections. Its awful you are being left to suffer like this. GPs are unnecessarily sniffy about allowing higer freqiency of jabs. I really dont lnow why!!! If you use Google chrome translate it will present the german site in English but sadly not the order form!! Sorry you probsbly know this already.....lol.

Thanks, it was such a battle to move them to 8 weekly and the Dr said if 3 monthly wasn't helping it probably wasn't b12 and she would have to stop them altogether so I don't really dare go back down that route and ask for more, I did explain that it really helped but only lasted a few weeks. I've managed to translate the order form just trying to get a swift payment from my bank now it says you have to go into a branch so ringing this morning to see if there is anyway around that 😊 I'm sure I'll get there in the end!

I paid using mobile banking without a problem .. The bank charges £25.00

Oh Clare that is soooo mean of your GP who clearly knows nothing about b12!!! Honestly I just despair of the ignorance and the consequent harm they do. How dare the GP threaten you like that! The vials cost them pennies and if they taught you how to self inject it would be cheap as chips to them. But no they'd rather cause harm through sheer arrogance and inability to listen...... Am so sorry they are not supportive. Mine are happy to supply daily because I self inject. They have to get the syringes and needles from the hospital for me. They've only done this because the neurologist backed me.

And Versande.de had the b12 on sale last night - you can pay through the Amazon button - thats what I do. Quick and simple.

The only thing that helped me on those days was cold water 💦 I have places near me so haven’t used a shower method. But it helped me some days with the brain fog and fatigue. Otherwise I tried to just rest and not feel too bad for being unproductive.

Thanks that's exactly the kind of tip I was hoping for, I know the only thing that will really sort me out is a jab but I'm willing to try anything to shock me into productivity just for an hour even so I can get some work done! I don't have anywhere local so cold shower it is! 😂

Everyone would tell me how brave or crazy I was for swimming in a river with snow around all winter. Erm, no, I’m just trying to function for a few hours in the day 🙈😂

For me it’s methyl folate as sometimes regular folate is not converted and it makes all the difference

I've taken a fish oil capsule sometimes when I feel especially foggy and it seemed to help. I don't know, it could just have been a placebo effect but at least it won't hurt you.

Thanks I'll give that a try, I'd be happy with a placebo effect 😁

I eat ice. I have no idea why it helps me focus but it has worked enough to help finish a work project with a deadline.

theguardian.com/science/201... I just checked Google , I have iron deficiency anaemia as well as PA which is probably why it worked for me but this article says it probably wouldn’t work for other deficiencies. And it’s not good for your teeth.

In the end after trying to soldier on, only getting an earlier injection makes any real difference but I remember the days when I would try anything to lift the fog !

That was a really interesting read, love finding out random things about how our bodies work. I'll definitely give that a try and fits in with the cold water swimming suggested above too!
