What are the best natural supplements for Chronic Fatigue and Brain Fog? No matter how much I sleep I feel tired and days with 7 or less hours I literally cannot think the whole day. I can't live like this and function.

I take supplements and Ginko Biloba is good for brain fog. Also if close to 50 need to take COQ10 for energy as this diminishes as a body making it as we near 50 yrs. I also take garlic pill and Vitamin C daily since age 15 and to date never had the flu not even 1956 Pandemic. And work in real estate, meaning visit homes where ppl home sick etc.

If your Doctor has eliminated the possibility of you having P.A. I suggest you read Dr. Sarah Myhill’s book on Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome .

First off, early to bed and early to rise will help no end. Get up at five in the morning, and you will be ready for bed by nine at night, and go to sleep much quicker.

Take a selenium ACE supplement with your evening meal. Before you go to bed take about 500 ml of fruit juice with a little salt stirred into it.

Make sure that all your vitamin and mineral levels are sufficient, and try to get as much exercise in the open air as you can.

Avoid caffeine in any form.

Take up some meditation practice, and learn some yoga.

Have you been tested for diabetes? Thyroid function? B12 deficiency? Iron deficiency? Vitamin D deficiency?

Trying to treat it without knowing the cause makes as much sense as hitting the engine block with a hammer if your car's not running properly. It might fix it, but it's much more likely to make it worse.

My daughter had ME/CFS and was treated by Dr M and recovered so it is worth reading her book. However since my husband has been diagnosed with pernicious anaemia I have researched PA and B12 deficiency. It now appears that some people are diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome when they actually have PA. The tests for PA are not necessarily accurate. My daughter was treated with B12 injections along with other supplements recommended by Dr M.

So your daughter almost certainly had a B12 deficiency.

I presume that Dr M actually diagnosed that. Or did she misdiagnose CFS/ME?

No her NHS doctors diagnosed her with post viral fatigue and then ME. We were referred to Dr M by her doctor. Then I didn’t know anything about B12 deficiency and just accepted that the supplements that were given her helped her recover. I do suspect that it was indeed a B12 deficiency but she has never been tested.

DelMegJJ, I have edited this subthread to remove name of physician. It is contrary to forum and HU policy to discuss treatment by named medical practitioners.

Ok thanks for that.

Hi, I lived with brain fog and fatigue for 6 years and found nothing really helped. Cold water swimming temporarily but that’s about it. I now think I had a undiagnosed B12 deficiency as it has 80% disappeared in a few days of injections, as well as so many other symptoms. For years Drs just a told me that there was nothing wrong and I had to live with it - and due to fatigue and fog I didn’t feel able to challenge that and just gave up. I’m not sure how looking back but if you can find a way to keep searching for causes then I would say kept trying. Good luck.
