Good morning - any best practices for brain fog while recovering?

Hi all - many symptoms are improving - even pain to a degree. But the brain fog seems even worse? I wonder if this is part of the reversing out? I am diagnosed with ADHD - but even Ritalin (at higher doses) seems useless just now. I just can't get it together and want to rip everyone's head off over the slightest frustration. The fatigue is also pretty bad - except at night, of course, when my whole body feels weirdly wired. I've decided to give the melatonin a try and see if that helps rest my brain. Anyone have any luck dealing with the fog & scattered focus? I have GABA powder, but haven't used it enough to see if it will help.

Benfotamine was great for the brain fog but didn't help much with my neuropathy. This is an individual thing and you might have different results. It has well documented effects on the brain and is frequently taken to help with studying.

Check out this study.

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/888...

It's been proven to be effective on treating diabetic neuropathy.

I recently started taking allithiamine and it helps with both the neuropathy and the brainfog. It's done wonders for my healing and will remain a supplement I'll keep using forever.

Alpha Lipoic Acid and Berberine are two of my favorites and give me some great results. But they have potential side effects and can give you a bad drug interaction if you take medicine that interacts with your liver. So you need to carefully look into this information before you take them.

Thank you !!! Wonderful information.

Can I ask what brand of allithiamine you use?

It's sold by Ecological Formulas.

Thank you. It's the only one I saw - just checking if there were others. I find it hard to sort out the quality of supplements.

This is not for the brainfog, but the frustration and feeling wired:

Practice it a few times a day and also before bed. Hope it helps. Very very simple and something anyone can do. Just five minutes. 🌼

Higher doses of Ritalin can cause aggression. I know, I've experienced it. Ritalin is an amphetamine. It is addictive. Be careful.

Thank you - My dose is still on the low side & has been for years. And I use it selectively as I prefer more natural options. The frustration really stems from the exhaustion of struggling cognitively. Usually the ritalin gives me calm focus (a few folks do get a different effect) - but now it does little for me. Looking for other options before upping the occasional dose. I think the Allithiamine looks promising.

I think you'll find that as soon as you find the right level of B12 supplementation most of your problems will disappear. I had similar symptoms - I was almost impossible to live with - but now I'm back to normal. That was such a relief. That and getting rid of the mind fog. Yesterday I was trying on boots and noticed that I can now stand on one leg without falling over. Another big improvement. So hang on in there. It takes time to heal.

When I find myself being irrigated easily, Tulsi Holy basil calms me.

At least it provided a moment of mild amusement. :-)

I struggle with brain fog too. I don’t really have any advice other than to wait it out. Exercise might help, but really replenishing b12 is what you need. But I feel you, right now I’m really struggling with brain fog and worsening depression that I think is caused by the b12 deficiency.

I’m finally at weekly again and I think that will help.

You may still need to figure out what the right dosage is for you.

Yes. I was on once every four days, then went to half an ml every other day, now have finally changed to a full ml every other day and finally feeling like my brain is clear, my whole body feels more at ease. Sometimes the answer is just more B12, and sometimes it takes time for your body to get to the place where it can make use of it and recover properly - my body had felt like it couldn't take more than I was giving it previously, now it feels good with more. Time, making sure to get the rest of your nutrition right, and lots and lots of B12, that's the answer for many of us. 💙🌼🌼🌼

Did your mum managed to persuad them to give you weekly injections? Or you've managed another way? X

Yes, finally. I’m so glad. I got my first weekly shot last week. I’m still struggling because it will take time for my body to bounce back, but I’m glad I could make progress. Unfortunate that it took so long in the semester to get what I need. I have other health problems on my mind too, but I’m pleased that I don’t need to fret about getting the weekly b12 shots anymore.
