Martyn's book was written before this paper - ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... - which showed that all forms of B12 are converted to cob(II)alamin as soon as they enter the cell. From that point on they are all identical.
So there is no reason at all to believe that methylcobalamin is any better than other types of B12 for nerves, legs, etc.
may61, whilst there may not be an obvious explanation many of us do find that we respond differently to different forms of cobalamin. Some find methyl helps with some symptoms, some find that it gives them anxiety.Personally I also find methyl helps with some neurological symptoms but it doesn't do anything in relation to neuropsychiatric symptoms. I also find that adenosyl helps with urge incontinence. Just carry on if it is working for you.
If your falling down he can hardly say your the fittest patient he's seen. Unless his other patients are in a worse way than you and that would suggest he's not very good at his job. How can he ignore you the patient and only look at the piece of paper? That's not OK. Is there anyone else at the practice you can try? From doctor to doctor I have has wildly different diagnosis for the exact same symptoms.
