Sore tongue after injecting B12

Hi. I used to get usual symptoms of B12 deficiency, and one of them was a sore tongue (which disappeared after injecting).

But for the first time, the sore tongue appeared after injecting today. Is this unusual?

I found when my folate gets low the sore tongue creeps back in so maybe good idea to have your levels checked.

Never managed to get rid of the everyday sore tongue in spite of recent good blood results (folate, ferritin, thyroid etc) and frequent B12 injections.

Am still seeing an oral medicine consultant, although haven't heard anything in a while. Perhaps unsurprising during a pandemic. If anything positive comes of it, I'll post on the forum.

"Blips" can happen for reasons unknown. What I mean is that symptoms can return briefly now and again - like a reminder that you've still got what you've got, that the injections are just trying to control it. At least this is my experience.

Still, it would not hurt at all to have those other things tested that can be affected: folate, ferritin, vitamin D, thyroid. These are the usual ones. Your GP might be able to think of other possibilities to rule out.

I got a big tongue with teeth marks around the edge like a fancy scalloped edge. Forgot about that. I still feel my tongue is a big big but I never got a sore tongue except when I've had thrush in my mouth. Could be a coincidence.

Thank you all for the replies. I had a genetic DNA test done via that famous DNA test (can't remember the name!), but it showed that I might have MTHR folate issues (and my folate bloods are low). So will try to take some methyl folate for now.
